RSofNY ladies
Went for a second opinion there today and, although the doc said it looks like LIIVF did everything he would have done, we still feel we need a change and so we are thinking of switching.
Wondering if youd share the good and the bad of this practice to help us decide. Specifically the stonybrook office and Dr Stelling (ie what you did in stonybrook versus what you had to go to Mineola for, which stonybrook nurses do you recommend etc?)

I've only used the Mineola office. It's funny I met Dr Stelling not knowing he was Dr Stelling in the elevator in the parking garage. I was going in for my retrieval freaking out because since I really wasn't in pain from the meds that I may not have many eggs! I was literally in tears when he said " sorry to interrupt but every cycle is diffferent so all because I was in pain before doesn't mean less pain means less eggs"! I looked at him with that who the **** are u stare then he introduced his self. We walked in together and should us where to go. Nice guy.

I've only been to the Mineola office and have had a great experience there! I've met Dr. Stelling and he is a very nice guy and a wonderful doctor. I guess the only "negative" thing I can say is that you don't get that 1:1 doctor/patient relationship that you would find elsewhere. You basically see whatever doctor is available at the time. All the doctors are excellent, so you are in great hands, but some people need to have that close relationship with their doctor. Good Luck with whatever you decide!

Thank you both for sharing your experiences. I was also very comfortable with Dr. Stelling. He was very personable, actually listened to me (!) and even cracked some ice breaking jokes to loosen the mood. Not to mention he seemed very knowledgeable and for the one thing I asked that he didn't know he got me an immediate answer. I do understand I wouldn't see him each visit - but it was like that at LIIVF too, so I suppose I'm used to it by now (thought it would be nice to see the same doc each time).

I saw dr Stelling at the w islip office and he is great. All of the drs I saw there are great, but he was my favorite. I did my monitoring at W islip. Weekend apts at Stony Brook and ivf procedures at mineola.

So far I love them all there. I originally saw San Roman. Hopefully I have to go tomorrow to get blood drawn to see if I get a BFP!! Good luck!

I love all the Drs there!!! I originally saw Dr. Halfen for my Consult. I usually see Dr. Stelling for my monitoring appts. San Roman did my 2 IUI's the last few days..he's pretty cool! I don't think I have encountered 1 Dr that I did not like!!

I am a huge fan of Dr. Stelling. He's my primary doctor over there. He is also my neighbor, which is kind of funny.

Thank you for all the input! Helps make our decision easier. I think we are going to take a month mental/financial/physical rest and start up with Dr Stelling in Jan!

Dr Stelling was my initial dr, then when monitoring began, I saw whoever was on call that day (mostly always Dr. Halfen). Im personally not a fan of him, but I loved Dr. Stelling and Dr. San Roman

Thanks again! I officially called insurance and the practice to change over. Feeling relieved with the decision after another annoying call with LIIVF this morning (front desk mixing up the message/question as always - sorry...venting). We'll see what the next cycle brings.....

I love San Roman!!! He's so Funny!!! I see Dr. Stelling allot to..I like him too! Dr. Halfen I don't really see allot. Usually it's Stelling! I'm very happy with this practice!!

I'm a 2x success story of rsofny at stony brook. My dr was Dr. Lydic. I have nothing but great things to say about them ad the office staff.

Not a fan of Halfen either but only saw him once. Love San Roman!! Actually I love them all there and the nurses couldn't be nicer. I go tomorrow for my second medicated cycle so we shall see. Good luck everyone!!

I love RSofNY..been there for 5+ years...
Dr. Stelling is brilliant (much like Sung but shes cold) ...He did my Lysis of Adhedsion Surgery and was fantastic...
I love the practice. Obvi, Ive been with them forever...needless to say, I ALWAYS, every visit see a Dr. becuase I always asked to...so if that is important to you, just ask and they comply...
The nurses are amazing...
Welcome to their practice and hope you love them as much as I do!!!!
They gave me both my babies!!!

Thank you! The reassurance is so helpful! We decided to take a month off, relax and enjoy the holidays. We will start with the next cycle in about 4 weeks.

I left LIVF and went to RSoNY. I was very pleased with my decision felt it was definitely the right one for me.
Just wanted to say on your month off REALLY RELAX! My DH and I just took a month off to relax ...... And I got pregnant. After multiple failed iui s .... You just never know. So don't forget to "love" your husband just for the fun of it.

That is our plan exactly. Thank you for the reminder...I need it. It is easy to slip back into the worry and constant thinking. Congrats to you...wonderful news!!

I <3 RSoNY. I see dr Lydic mainly, but Dr Stelling did my first IUI and he was great. When I call everyone is so nice and helpful; when I go for my appointments everyone is fantastic (from the front desk, to the sono techs, to the nurses, the MDs, the NPs, and the medical assistants! Dr Lydic, Dr Bronson and Dr Stelling are all extremely patient, kind, gentle, informative, knowledgable, and sensitively joke around when needed :) I've had exam, HSG and endo bx with Dr Lydic, IUI with Dr Stelling, and IUI with dr Bronson.
