Announcing Pregnancy Question
Would you announce on Christmas that you were pregnant (we'll be about 10.5 weeks) or wait for another day? It would only be to our parents and siblings....I'm hesitant because I wouldn't want anyone to think we are taking away from my nephew's first christmas, etc.

Re: Announcing Pregnancy Question
I personally wouldn't think it's an issue but u know ur family best. If people will think you are stealing your nephews thunder and it will start a fight is it worth it...but I don't personally see why sharing this and making the holiday even more special would be an issue

Announcing Pregnancy Question
Are there special plans for your nephew's first Christmas? Is there some sort of celebration? If so I would wait for a better time maybe New Years Eve? If not then I would wait for the appropriate time to announce..maybe just to your parents. btw: if my sister or brother announced they were expecting when it was my child's 1st Christmas (we wouldn't make a big deal) I would NOT be upset what so ever..its family and its a blessing!

Re: Announcing Pregnancy Question
We are announcing it on Christmas at 11.5 weeks, but we have no babies/children in the family to take away from. I would still do it. There's no reason you can't both have thunder!

Re: Announcing Pregnancy Question
I don't think it would bother my SIL, but who knows! I'm not making a big deal of it, because we aren't telling our girls until closer to 12-13 weeks or it's so obvious that we can't hide it! We think it's a blessing (especially since we had an ectopic a few months ago) but you never know how others interpret things!

Announcing Pregnancy Question
I would tell them. It's a happy time for everyone! However you know your family best. If it were me I'd be ecstatic to hear that my son has a little cousin on the way! And I'd be nothing but thrilled to hear the great news!

Announcing Pregnancy Question
I announced my pregnancy at the end of my nephew's christening. I wasn't going to, but my sister told me to do it. I don't think there is anything wrong with announcing it at Christmas. You're not stealing thunder!

Announcing Pregnancy Question
I don't see anything wrong with announcing it on Christmas. We were going to announce it on Thanksgiving but it was my niece's first holiday. When we told my SIL that we didn't want to take away from my niece's first holiday she even said "don't be silly, this is a good thing!" And this is coming from the woman who told me I couldn't plan out wedding until her's was over (which was almost 6 months after when we got engaged).
Why not get your nephew a "big cousin" onsie?

Announcing Pregnancy Question
I don't know if you have enough time for this but what if you got a shirt/onesie made that says "I'm getting a baby cousin" and that way you get to announce on Christmas but also make it about your nephew.

Re: Announcing Pregnancy Question
I would, I don't think announcing the news will take away anything from your nephew. It's not like a birthday, it's Xmas........that's for everyone IMO. Congrats!!

ITA! And I think a onesie with Big Cousin or something like that would be a perfect way to announce it!
I think a lot of people tell their parents and siblings before 12w, so I wouldn't worry at all about it being early.
