Alarm companies?
We closed on our first home last Tuesday! It needs some work so we go over pretty much everyday and do things. On Friday DH went before work (4am) and as he was waking around he heard a loud bang and as he went into the kitchen he saw a silhouette of a man with a baseball cap through the frosted glass door that leads to the garage (the garage has a light that is on a motion sensor so once u step foot in there it goes on) my DH just yelled and the man ran off quickly. DH called 911 and within 4 minutes 7 patrol cars were there with 2 policeman in each, guns drawn they searched but unfortunately did not find the man. We are looking into alarm companies bc at this point DH does not want me to go there without him, and when we do go DH searches the entire property first checking windows and doors then checks the entire house. It sucks that we have to feel like this :( so can you guys recommend your alarm companies?

Re: Alarm companies?
Congratulations on the closing!!!
I'm sorry you guys had to deal with that - that sucks!! We're probably going to go with ADT. The previous owner knew the guy personally so he knows the house and I chatted with him and he's pretty great. If you want, I can send you his number and you can reach out. They have a few different systems that seem pretty great.

Re: Alarm companies?
I don't have a suggestion, per se, but just make SURE you research before you buy.
All the companies will offer "free" equiptment. But its only X amount of windows and doors. All the companies offer monitoring, but Slomins, for example I think makes you sign a 5 year agreement. If you are not happy, you out of luck.
My point is the systems arent free, and they make you sign up for a long time. JUST do research and make sure you pick the right company with the right price for you.

i would have to agree with this.
We have slomins, but my DH works for the company. I wont say to use them or not to cause I know i will be conisdered bias so just do some research.

I agree with what the others posted. Make sure you know exactly what you are getting for the price you're paying. I found that the "BIG" companies promised a lot, but delivered a little. We went with Meenan and are pleased.

Re: Alarm companies?
In my old house I had ADT and it was very $$$$$ I felt like they itemized everything. In my new house I have Dynasty Alarm Co. They are on LI...I have been very happy with them. Prices are fair and service is very comparable. My mother uses them too..plus they are much lower than the big companies...
Here is their info http://directory.newsday.com/dynasty+protection+inc.9.77540218p.home.html

This. and now we are stuck in a 5 year contract with 4 more years to go. also when i wanted to add on 2 more windows later on, it cost us like, a third of what we initially paid for everything else.
