Re: DisneyLAND

Thanks. Part of me thinks it would be great because I have a bad back and I will not be able to participate in everything at the bigger Disney World, won't be able to keep going for such long days. But that is the reason I would want a nice hotel--to sit out some things while DS and DH go. I have not been on such a long flight as Cali. since before I got hurt, though. This just looks like something I don't want my son to miss.

There are MANY hotels within walking distance of the gate to DLR. We're staying at the Grand Californian in Feb. It is basically IN California Adventure.

Honestly, I think either resort (Walt Disney World or Disneyland) can be completely exhausting and kill your body and your back (I have 6 herniations), and either one can be manageable depending on how you schedule your days and spend your time. With midday breaks, especially staying at a resort close to the parks, you can really make it work at either park. I know for me with my back what's worse than walking is waiting in line, so I try to always travel in the off season and make the best use of fastpass.

Magic Kingdom at WDW and Disneyland Park at DLR are both compact in their way. It's not like Animal Kingdom or EPCOT where you have to walk a lot. You can spend a morning just seeing everything in one land, break, see another land, but there is MORE to see at Disneyland.

I think you can manage well with either park, but at DLR everything is in walking distance, including your hotel, which is nice.

Let me know if you want some touring and preparation tips based on your bad back. There are rides I have to avoid, and they may not be the ones you think!

I'll report back after our DLR trip. I'm super excited about CarsLand

Disneyland is VERY easy. We usually stay at the Pier (so we can watch the light show from our room), but California Adventure is next to the entrance and the monorail goes to DTD.

Thank you. Definitely let us know how the trip goes. Now I may be having back surgery, which could obviously change things but I would go only after a full recovery. Surgery is a last resort but I may be close to it. I would definitely need that information about the rides. I don't want to take a lot of chances even though I want to enjoy my life!!
