Cold cuts at restaurants
Like a Supermelt. I know they are cooked but not sure if it's "steaming". Anyway, someone please tell me it's ok to have a turkey club supermelt

Cold cuts at restaurants
I haven't had any coldcuts while pregnant bc my dr said not to. However, if I did I would prob avoid them at a restaurant just bc you don't know how long they've been sitting there for. Maybe buy them yourself fresh and make your own sandwich at home

My doctor also told me to stay away from them. She didn't even say only cooked or steaming just not at alk because of recent listeria outbreaks.

Re: Cold cuts at restaurants
I am sure it's fine, I would eat it.
As for cold cuts in general, my OB says no unless heated up. I did stay away from them when I was pregnant with my DD but this time around, I have cold cuts probably at least once a week. The way I see it, I am 37 and have been eating cold cuts basically every week my entire life and I've never once gotten sick from them or even heard of a listeria issue with any brand I eat or places I get them from. The likelihood of anything being wrong with cold cuts is soooooooo slim that to avoid them seems silly, so I don't.

I don't even really like sandwiches and have not had any cold cuts for the same reason. but i LOVE the turkey club supermelt at friendlys....just trying to figure out if grilling the sandwich is enough heating to be safe.

I am SUPER paranoid and I still eat turkey club supermelts. It's not like they slice the turkey there and the machine could be contaminated. Also, you could ask them to heat up the turkey before they put it on the sandwich and grill it. I've had a bunch of them this pregnancy and I'm fine!

I agree..Listeria is insanely rare. And the last several outbreaks had nothing to do with cold cuts, they were things we wouldn't think twice about eating. (bagged salad, cantaloupe, ricotta cheese)

Re: Cold cuts at restaurants
Sorry but I probably wouldn't have them. But everyone will feel differently about it. I've had 2 or 3 sandwhiches so far this pregnncy (34.2 weeks) i prepared at home but i had the meat steaming hot. I don't know if a restaurant would heat it that hot, plus no way of knowing how long they had the meat there.

Re: Cold cuts at restaurants
I've been eating coldcuts regularly on sandwiches that are "grilled" or "pressed".

Just make sure they heat the turkey up first and I am sure you will be fine. I had two turket melt sandwiches early on.

Wait, what is wrong with those things?
I would think supermelt is okay, you can always ask for extra hot!
