Re: Self cleaning oven.
I used mine for the first time last week. You need to take out the grates and I opened my windows and kept it on for 3 hours. It smelled only the first half hour but not really that bad.
When it was done, I couldn't believe how easy it was to wipe it clean.

Self cleaning oven.
The smell is only temporary. Self cleaning ovens have a coating on them to assist the process. An I know that in the past you could not use things like easy off on the oven and then use the self cleaning feature again. Cleaners ruin that coating. I don't know if that has changed but I wouldn't chance it. We just bought a house and the oven was self cleaning. It was filthy when we closed. I would not even take the chance of using the self cleaning feature because I did not know I they had used oven cleaners. We ended up buying a new stove.

I let the oven do its thing. The smell is def not as strong as it was the first time. Helps that its 70 + degrees here today I can leave my windows open.
