This is SO frustrating. I had GD last time and used a Bayer Contour meter. It seemed to work fine and my numbers were really good, to the point where I though the diagnosis was wrong. I was diagnosed again this time and had been using the same meter. Numbers looked really good again.

I ran out of supplies and a friend happened to have a brand new Precision meter that she gave me. I tested in the am and my fasting numbers were way higher than they ever had been before. I'm normally in the 70's or 80's, NEVER 90 or above. I was shocked when I got a 98 on the new meter. I immediately retested and got a 70. Chat Icon

So now really confused I tested several more times (my poor fingers!) and go 90, 97, 102. I stopped at that point and called the company. They told me this range in numbers is considered normal. I wound up checking both the Bayer and Precision meters with control solution, figuring one of them must be wrong and they both come back as being "in range".

I've tested on both meters at the same time and the Precision has been anywhere from 20-50 points higher than the Bayer, which really scares me. I just now tested twice in a row with the Precision 2 hours after breakfast and got a 115, followed by a 78. I know they're both in range but come on, that is a BIG difference!

To make this even longer, I got Bayer to send me a new meter based on the above and it runs in range with my old Bayer meter. Has anyone dealt with this? I don't know what to think. Also, what meter do you use?
