Growing up, my parents did NOT have stockings. Just the 6 kids did.
We ended up having stockings as parents because someone gave them to us as a gift when we were married and the first Christmas in our new house. We just added the kids as we went along.

We have them, as well as our kiddies. Only my older DD's is embroidered. DH and I have cheap ones and I have an extra for DD2, but I will get nicer ones for the rest of us after Christmas.
