Need help with DDs hair

DD is 19-months old and has a full head of hair - she has had it since birth and it just keeps growing. We were using the Aveeno body/hair wash, then switched to Baby Magic and now to Johnson's shampoo only, but her scalp is still so dry after drying.

Does anyone else have any other solutions or is it time to switch to adult shampoo and conditioner? Her hair is getting very long and thick.

TIA!

Re: Need help with DDs hair

Are you washing her hair everyday? If you are, stop and only wash her hair every other day or so.

Also talk to your doctor, because if you've been trying different things and her scalp is still dry and red she may need to go see a dermatologist.

Re: Need help with DDs hair

My ped told me Johnson and Johnson is very drying. I used aquaphor wash which helped solved the dry scalp. Now I use earths best tot shampoo and seperate conditioner it makes her hair really silky and her scalp is never dry. You also could use head and shoulders once a week Just watch her eyes.

DD has a ton of hair for an 18 month old. I use mustella shampoo and although she gets a bath everyday I try to only wash her hair every other day, unless it's super dirty. I occasionally will use some of my conditioner if it seems really dry on the ends.

DD's scalp was also dry from j&j. We use Aveeno moisturizing shampoo and then use a dime size amount of j&j leave in conditioner (green tube). Her hair is very silky and scalp is not dry at all. We bathe/wash her hair daily.

I agree with only washing her hair every other day. DD has fine hair and we're still using California Baby to wash it, which is still working fine.

Agree with PP's about washing hair every other day. I use the Aquaphor 2 in 1 and I find that her scalp is never dry and it helps with the tangles too!

another comment supporting do not use J&J. That stuff is sooooo drying (ironic huh?) and don't wash her hair every day.

We used Aveeno but moved onto California baby. AJ is 4 and no way would I be brave enough to try adult shampoo & conditioner.. she'd scream bloody murder if it got into her eye and wouldn't sit still long enough to rinse it out. The thought of that gives me chills. NO way. haha I'm a wuss. I'll stick with California baby.

Re: Need help with DDs hair

DD has a ton of hair (also since birth) and we use head and shoulders and have never had an issue with her scalp being dry. Also we wash her hair every 2-3 days.

We give her a bath every other day. I'll try your suggestions and see what works.

My DD had a very dry scalp when I washed her hair everyday, so we wash it every other day and use Burt's Bee Shampoo.
