pregnant with #2 - scared, shocked and sick

hi guys. after a week of weird random bleeding and nausea, i went to the gyn yesterday to see what was up. i bled so much yesterday that it looked like a crime scene. that had never happened to me before, and combined with the extreme bloating and sickness, i figured i had to get checked out. pregnancy never really occurred to me, as i had my period on november 1. well, as it turns out, that period wasnt a period, and just some more weird bleeding. the doctor did an internal and prepared me for an early miscarriage, due to the bleeding. but when she did a sono, our little fighter had a heartbeat and was measuring 6 weeks. of course, the bleeding is worrisome and my pregnancy will have to be watched closelyt. i was and still am shocked, scared, nervous and completely overwhelmed, since we had not planned this. my DD is only 18 months, and i feel so guilty that my alone time with her may only be two years. i just went back to work in september. i am sad bc i had all these plans for my DD and i this summer, like swim lessons and fun stuff together, and i cant help but feel so badly that that will have to be pushed off. i am just so worried about everything. how will i handle a two year old and a newborn? i mean, i am certainly not alone and i have a DH and parents who will help, but i just feel so freaked out. i am a planner by nature, and i guess this coming out of left field has really thrown me for a loop. not to mention the fact that i am extremely nauseous and feel like puking all day long.
so yeah, thats my story. i am worried but praying that my new LO will be ok and that somehow i will come around and be excited about all of this. all i keep focusing on are the negatives, like being fat and swollen and uncomfortable and having pee every 5 minutes and not being able to sleep. i dont meant to sound selfish, but these are the thoughts going through my head.
anyway, thanks for listening. maybe some of you have been in a similar spot. Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

First....Congrats!! And I hope the bleeding stops soon! Did your Dr take blood to check if your progesterone levels were okay? Did the see anything on the sono that would tell them where the bleeding is coming from??

I am due when DS is going to be 27 months. Im excited, scared and nervous all at once. I am most concerned with middle of the night feedings and waking up with DS in the morning. I'm also worried about giving DS the one on one time that he is used to.

I think its natural to feel this way though. Parents do it all the time!

Congratulations! I am also pregnant with number 2. I felt the same way. Nervous , scared, worried and anything else you can think of. Sometimes I get worried that I am not as excited as I was with DS but I think its because of the worries I have.

As the time goes by I get more and more excited and the rest of the nonsense goes away. I am sure it will be the same for you!

Best of Luck!

Congrats!!!
I totally understand you. I have 3 girls and was on birth control and still manage to get pregnant. I'm also a planner and thought I had everything planned out for at least 5 years. We were very comfortable with what we had and had no plans to add and we even had talked about getting fixed. When I found out I was pregnant, I didn't know how to handle it. There were so many emotions, I even fell into depression. It took me a while to get all excited again but here I am and I can't wait to meet my little girl. My girls are excited and DH is thrilled since he always wanted a big family. Things will definitely be tough but it will all be worth it and we can't wait to hold her.
Good Luck and know that things happen for a reason. You have a little fighter there so enjoy it and don't worry to much about the future that things always fall into place.

Sorry you're feeling so overwhelmed. I think it may be because of the unexpected news. As far as how you will handle a 2 year old and a newborn well, you will!!!! I did it, and if I did it so can anyone else lolol
How about how will I handle an autistic 4 year old, a 2 1/2 year old and a newborn??? Well I will!!! (and I have NO HELP AT ALL, except for DH) so rest assured that that aspect of it will be fine!
I can totally understand your feelings right now, give it time and let everything settle first!!!! Good luck!!
