Random Diaper Question

This is kind of a silly question BUT do all diaper brands (huggies, pampers ect) print the name brand on the diaper? My MIL made a diaper cake for my shower, and I found size 3 Pampers (which were clearly labeled on each diaper the size, and the brand.) The were also a ton of smaller diapers, which have no size, and no name on them. I'm convinced that my MIL got them at the Dollar Store, and I want to throw them out, but DH says she wouldn't do that, and thinks I'm being crazy. The way I look at it, I'd rather know what I'm putting on my baby's sensitive skin, and its just not worth the risk to me... How do you ladies feel? Am I crazy?

Random Diaper Question

a diaper is a diaper to me...i would try the diaper that she gave you, you may find that they don't fit your baby properly and your LO may leak or may find that particular brand uncomfortable. if that's the case, then just discard them and use whatever you are comfortable with. once you learn what your baby likes, if your MIL offers to buy you diapers, make sure to let her know, like "thank you fo much for offering, yes, baby _____ likes to wear _____ in size ______ as they seem to fit her best". Then she doesn't have an excuse to buy you something that won't fit her or some non brand name your not comfortable with.

Re: Random Diaper Question

I would never get rid of free diapers no matter what. I think keep them and try them on your baby. If they don't work well then get rid of them. But I would at least try them first!

Agree with all the others.

Even if it's a "generic" brand of diapers, that doesn't mean they are bad. And, it's also possible, that Pampers will leak on your LO. With diapers, brand name doesn't mean anything unless it works on your baby.

Random Diaper Question

I guess I'm more concerned about the baby getting a rash, or the diaper being too 'rough' for him. The material was totally different than the Pampers. I dont know what brand we will be using yet, i understand the trial and error period... just trying to avoid rashes or him being uncomfortable...

The thing is that you will never know how their skin is going to react to something until you try it.

To me, Huggies diapers are rough feeling and Pampers are soft but if I received a bunch of Huggies diapers for free then I am going to use them.

Re: Random Diaper Question

I know I'm in the minority here but I wouldn't use them. But I am admittedly anal retentive and half a germaphobe.

I agree with others that you may have to try many different brands. Even the different brands have different types. Pampers cruisers was killing DD's behind but Baby Dry seemed to be good. Go figure.

To answer part of your question, a lot of the eco-friendly diapers are plain white and not labeled with a brand or size. Many of them do feel rougher than Pampers.

If you really don't want them- donate them. There are plenty of families who are in need of diapers.

Random Diaper Question

I absolutely wouldn't get rid of free diapers... Once you see how many you actually go through in the beginning and how expensive they are, I'm sure you'll change your mind... Just try them out... Use all the same ones at once so you can see if your lo has a reaction... If he/she does, then donate the unused ones.

Regardless of diapers, its quite possible your lo will get a rash in the beginning... They crap so very much in the early days that that alone will irritate your baby's skin... So it might not even be the diaper Chat Icon

Ps: arm yourself with triple paste. It's the only diaper rash cream that got rid of my baby's rash!

Random Diaper Question

I would use them. My DS had a HORRIBLE rash from pampers with baby dry and leaked out of huggies. I use Target diapers and like them a lot.

Maybe post pics of the front strip and someone on parenting will be able to tell you what they are.

Re: Random Diaper Question

Obviously people wouldnt agree with me but I wouldnt use them (unless I asked mil if she knew what brand and size they were). I had something similar happen and inused the Diaper and DS got this nasty red irritation that he had never had before (nor after). I tossed them all, i had no idea where they were from and didnt trust it

I would def ask mil first though you would need to know ht size they are anyway.

Re: Random Diaper Question

I know generics don't have the brand or size, and to be honest, I've really liked the babies r us brand! Don't throw them out. When you really thing of it, they are collecting poop and pee and then are thrown out. Unless the diapers themselves are irritating DC there's no reason to waste.

But I would ask the brand and size. This way whether or not you like the diaper you can buy more of or avoid that brand. And you need to know the size so you know when to use it.

I ordered diapers from the honest company for my ds and they do not have any name brand on them. I would at least try them out before deciding not to use them.

Re: Random Diaper Question

I have no idea whether or not they all have the names printed on them, but there will come a time when you will not care what diaper it is...by around age 2 diapers = $$ signs LOL.
