Question about fertility and where I am...

Hi ladies!

This is my first time posting on this board... And I don't know if this is the right place, but I could use some guidance on my situation if you could provide any? Just reaching out to see if anyone had similar experiences?

I've had four losses - 1 d&c and one ectopic pregnancy. I saw a re in may, got myself and dh tested and everything came back fine for both of us except for my thyroid was a little elevated, so I am on 25 mg of synthroid. They also found a polyp and a small septum on my uterus which I had fixed with uterine surgery back in July. I had the clearance to start trying again in August, have been using opk and getting smiley, but nothing had happened yet. I had a confusing experience with the opk as I got two smiley faces this month? I am on cd 22 today. Since I've been on the synthroid, I've had 28 day cycles, but last month was a 23 day cycle?

The re offered me fertility help to get preggo last time I saw her, but I decided we would try on our own. I am feeling so much pressure and anxiety about getting pregnant and it not happening... Nervous there is something wrong?

Eta we have a 3yr old ds at home- I feel very blessed to have him, but hoping I can have another...

I am not sure i posted in the right place, and if I did - I am sorry! Just reaching out to see if anyone had had a similar experience & if at this point I should consider the fertility help? Any advice would be appreciated!!

Thank you!!!

im sorry for your losses Chat Icon because you have had 4 losses i would absolutely see an RE. especially one that specializes in repeat pregnancy loss, like dr. Braverman in woodbury or dr. T at SIRM in the city. you need to have a really specialized panel of bloodwork run. the regular OB/RE miscarriage panel many times isn't enough. i would focus on determining the reasons for the losses and then concentrate on getting pregnant. if you dont determine the reasons for the losses first, you might unfortunately have to go through it again if/when you do get pregnant.

as far as just getting pregnant, if it were me id probably just see an RE for the mere fact that you will get monitored so much more closely both before and after getting pregnant. its entirely possible that if you ovulate on your own with no problem that the right RE will simply monitor your cycle and monitor you when you get pregnant and have you on the right course of meds to keep you pregnant. you may not even need ovulation induction meds. so basically there is really no benefit to you not seeing an RE at this point!! after 4 losses you've been through quite enough and IMO you should get the care and attention you deserve to hold a pregnancy. good luck and please keep us updated!! Re: Question about fertility and where I am...

Thanks so much for your reply!

I actually saw a re in June who specializes in recurrent mc and she did a work up and that's when she found the thyroid and then I had uterine surgery too...she felt the thyroid being off and the septum were the cause of my mc, so she felt fixing those would optimiZe my chances. Te septum was right where embryos implant themselves..

I haven't been back to see her since aug as we discussed then that I would try on my own to get preggo, but I am at the point where I don't know if I should o back to her for further fertility help? Just gettingto my breaking point with everything that has gone on in the last year...

Thanks so much for your kind words and advice!!

I'm sorry this is so stressful on you.

My personal opinion is that if you had 2 smiley faces last month (not sure why you kept testing after the first, though), then I'd absolutely see an RE. Even if you try naturally, they can run blood work to see when and if you are actually ovulating so you can maximize your chances. If after a few more months of trying naturally doesn't work, it might be time to see what the RE recommends. He whole job is to get you pregnant, so if that's what you really want, I'd see what they recommend.

Good luck!

Thank you Chat Icon

I don't normally continue testing after first smiley, but I had some cramping and CM, which I thought was strange? So I figured I would test just to see if it was anything?

Thank you, I am going to make an appointment with her just to see what she recommends at this point-I was concerned when i got the second smiley..

Re: Question about fertility and where I am...

I definitely agree with these girls... just because the smileys come up, there may be underlying blood/thrombo/immune issues that may be causing MC... with careful monitoring and expert care, you can have a successful pregnancy like many others here. You are in the right place!!!
