professional photog for baby shower?
Do you think it's going overboard to hire a professional photographer for a baby shower? I'll take honest answers. I'm considering maybe hiring a freelancer for my shower. I'm conflicted, though. What do you all think?

I wouldn't for a baby shower. Have some family members take photos for you. Honestly, I don't even know where photos of my baby shower are, or who has them.
I'd use that money towards pics of the baby when he/she comes.

My sister is hiring someone but it's a friend of hers and she's just starting out so it's relatively inexpensive. She's done holiday pictures for my sister and events for friends and does decent work so I think that is good enough.
I would find someone like that, I don't think spending a lot would be worth it.

Not at all!!! I had a photographer at my bridal shower and I hired a photographer for my friends baby shower. I plan on having one but I love pictures and I don't want to rely on friends and family taking pics when they should be enjoying the party. You can find them on Craigslist and most are just starting out so they are not expensive.

Re: professional photog for baby shower?
It's not my thing. I just think- how often am I REALLY going to go back and look at my baby shower pics? I think I looked at the ones my friends and family took twice. Then the baby comes and it's all about the baby. It's been over 2 years now and I can't imagine going back to look at those pics- I dont' even know where they are to be honest.
Not to mention- I was not a fan of how I looked pregnant so I avoided pics like the plague.

Re: professional photog for baby shower?
I was going to have Tricia LaPonte photograph mine but it got postponed due to bedrest and she was shooting a wedding on the new date. :( I ended up having a photogafriend take some pics with my camera and I took some too.
If you can afford it then do it. I didn't want my mom or mil to feel the need to take pics the whole time so I wanted to hire someone.
