carpet help - is this the norm?

we just had empire come out to quote us for a 11.5 x 9 ft bedroom. Basically four styles to chose from, two of which would have been $650 and two $750.00 after installation.

Is this the norm? Seems high? Any other recommendations?

That price seems pretty good. I just my girls bedroom which is 10x15 for 770 with install and tax from home depot and we got the most expensive padding.

Might be a little high, but also depends on how "good" the carpet is. We did a 12x12 room for about $550, but although it was decent carpet, it wasn't the best

I wasn't a fan of Empire. We got quotes from Home Depot too. We wound up going to Jim Flack (on 110) based off recommendations from here. We picked out carpet we loved and were trying to get them on the phone since the storm to measure and install. We drove by the other day and they're still out of power. Since I'm expecting baby furniture soon, I was getting nervous so we went to Pat's Carpet on Saxon Avenue in Islip. They wound up being less expensive than Jim Flack AND they had the fancy runner I loved for my stairs! We picked out carpet on Monday, they measured on Wednesday and are installing tomorrow (Friday).

When my FIL did his carpet a few years ago he said Empire was the highest. I thin he went with Home depot

UPDATE! we got a great deal at carpet depot in Wantagh! About 40% LESS than what Empire quoted.

Thanks all!
