When changing baby on the changing pad..
what are you using, if anything, to protect the changing pad cover? I bought disposable multi use pads which I think are great and planned on using but I am really trying to limit expenses and not get into buying things that I am going to go through like crazy and have to keep buying more. It was like 5.99 for 36 but with possibly 10 diaper changes a day, thats not many days use for one box.
Should I just buy a sheet protector maybe like the ones for the actual crib and just wash it every time it gets dirty? What is everyone else doing?

Re: When changing baby on the changing pad..
My changing pad had the nice changing pad cover on it and then on top of that I had a Boppy changing pad liner. This way if my DD had an accident on the changing station I didn't need to change the whole cover, just the waterproof liner. They are great!

Re: When changing baby on the changing pad..
I'm planning to use the disposable changing pads on top.
Also, hoping I can get my hands on a bunch of free Chux from the hospital. Those are perfect to cover changing pads!

Re: When changing baby on the changing pad..
I have a few liners, I think they are called, that go on top of the changing pad. You can put them in the washing machine but not dryer.

Re: When changing baby on the changing pad..
I got some waterproof pads (lap pads I think they are called), and also some of the disposable ones. I don't think you have to change the disposable after EVERY diaper change - maybe once every few changes depending on whether it's dirty or not. You'll have the diaper underneath the baby for the most part. Also planning on taking chux from the hospital!

Same here I saw no need for liners. But i do laundry frequently so it was never an issue i always have 1-2 clean ones ready

Re: When changing baby on the changing pad..
I actually took about 30 "chucks" pads from the hospital room, so we used those until we ran out. Essentially looks like dog wee-wee pads. Then we used hospital blankets and washed them. Never got real dirty. Now, month 3, nothing but the changing cover.

When changing baby on the changing pad..
I got a six pack of thick absorbent burp cloths that are about the size of dish towels that I use on DDs changing pad. The package actually said they could also be used as cloth diapers and as changing pad covers. Sorry I don't know the brand but DH ordered them from amazon. I have the disposable ones also, but they're actually not very absorbent so I haven't been using them.

When changing baby on the changing pad..
I'm using the disposable multi use pads on my changing table and so far I've only changed it 3 times and my DS is 12 days old. I also took the sheet protectors from his isolette which are washable and great at catching accidents.

Re: When changing baby on the changing pad..
I just wash it. Someone pees on it daily I have 3 but I've only used 2 so far since Im always doing laundry. We dont; change them all the time on there though. At night, we use the PNP changer and I just keep a hand towel on there and change that out.

When changing baby on the changing pad..
I folded a regular receiving blanket over the changing pad cover. She never really peed when changing and we never made too much of a crazy mess like you think. I always put a clean diaper right under her butt as I was cleaning her up, that always caught any mishaps

Re: When changing baby on the changing pad..
My first was a boy, so we had a lot of "showers" in the beginning. I used the disposable ones quite frequently in the beginning.
When I ran out, I used the very thin receiving blankets. I did a lot of laundry back then.
I used the disposable ones for quite a while, especially when we were out. My DS is 3 and I still have a few extra ones in his dresser drawer.

Like others have said, you use the boppy liners and wash them as needed.

I agree, I only have 2 and so far we've only had one accident on the changing pad cover and I just washed it and used the other cover. I can't speak for everyone but I don't find the liners to be necessary.

Re: When changing baby on the changing pad..
With DC I didnt use any. I just used the pad and then cleaned it. I would use an alcohol wipe or put a paper towel down under it. I never got anything from the baby on it....
Edit: That's for the ones for the store. The one in DC room I just washed and put it back on. It was more to look nice. You don't "need' a cover its just nice to have one.
