bottled blue cheese dressing
Yay or Nay?
craving a buffalo chicken salad but i'm on the more conservative side regarding avoiding any of the risky foods, so if there's any risk, i'll skip it.. but i'm not sure if there is

I've had blue cheese a couple of times with wings and all is okay.

Re: bottled blue cheese dressing
I think its fine. The risk with a blue cheese is that it should be pastuerized. Just read the label of the bottle to ensure it's made with pastuerized cheese.
I'd be shocked if it wasn't.

I don't know. I know the issue is if it is pasturized or not so I guess you need to check the label. Kraft I believe makes a buffalo ranch dressing - I used that the other day because I was also unsure of blue cheese dressing but the buffalo ranch was delicious.

Most high end cheeses are not pasteurized....the stuff in bottles you are usually safe with.

My doctor said the whole thing would need to be pasteurized - not just the cheese. I ate it all the time with my last pregnancy and was fine, but I guess better safe than sorry. Now I use ranch instead - not the same, but close enough.

Re: bottled blue cheese dressing
I can't imagine it can be bottled and shelf-stable without being pasteurized. It's the fresh stuff I'd be worried about...
