Why is my 5 month old suddenly cranky?
DS normally just cries when hes hungry or overtired. Hes never been a great sleeper. Pretty much always has rarely napped longer than 1 hr collectively during the day - but has always been happy. All of a sudden if i leave the room for a second he screams. He was sleeping through the night 10-5 for about two weeks, but now doesnt go to sleep until 1130 and wakes up at 1, 230, 5, and 6. Almost always, he cries until hes held, and then goes back to sleep. Of course, once we put him back down he screams again. Could it be separation anxiety or growth spurt? I dont think hes teething just yet, the dr said 2 weeks ago he wasnt. Any suggestions?

It sounds like teething to me. Even though he might not have any teeth that are at the surface yet he could definitely still be feeling the pain of them. They can "teeth" for months before you might see an actual tooth pop through.
