Why is it so hard to tell work?!

Anyone else so nervous to tell their job? I keep putting it off, but this is my second and at 14 weeks I am starting to show! I don't know what I am afraid of, but everyday I keep telling myself I will tell them tomorrow. Anyone else go through this?

I did. Didn't tell them until I was like 22 weeks. I was afraid of their reaction being that this will be my 3rd pregnancy there. I'm very lucky that my boss is a family men and loves kids. My second boss wasn't too happy about it.

I was very nervous too! I told them around 13/14 weeks. I have two bosses, I was so nervous I cried telling the first one! After the cat was out the bag it was easier to tell my other boss &co-workers. its funny though , my boss and another co-worker said they had suspected it already! good luck!!

Thanks guys! I chickened out again - I also have two bosses and one didn't come in all week, so I figured I should wait until they were both in. They will know soon without me telling them, so I really need to do it soon!

Re: Why is it so hard to tell work?!

i was extremely nervous to tell my job because my boss knew that once i did get pregnant that i would be leaving my job for good. i worked in a daycare center and it didnt make sense financially to have my baby in daycare and work since id have to pay for my baby to attend daycare and my paycheck wasnt alot ...when i told her she wasnt too happy and even refused my co workers to throw me a baby shower! she knew after 6 years of working there it would be hard to replace me as a teacher....so it took me a while to tell her, i was probably around 14 weeks or so when i finally did. I left at 6 months pregnant. we left on good terms but i guess some work places discriminate. i felt sad leaving because i felt i put in a good 6 years of hard work and it was my time to raise a family after taking care of everyone elses!Good luck to you telling your boss i hope he/she is supportive! do you plan to come back to work? i think thats half the battle if you do plan to return to work as usual, i think work places tend to freak out when they need to find a replacement.

Yep i am afraid to tell him since i only came back in June after 12 week maternity leave. Chat Icon Chat Icon
I dont relly care what he says though. I know he will be happy for me personally but not for himself as i will be off again. Work is way too busy these days so i know it will not go down too well.
And i am showing already at 12 weeks since this is #2.

Good luck. I plan on telling him this week too.

I feel like I am showing too (I am 14 weeks) but I still don't feel ready to tell them. I have no idea why I don't want to, I just don't. I came back from my first in Sept 2011, so they aren't that close together, and I plan on coming back after my maternity leave, but I still don't want to tell.

Good luck telling your boss!
