Is this being selfish????
My fiancé told me even before we got serious that if we ever did have kids that their names would have to start with K like his. My mom (she's my best friend we never fight) is not happy about it and thinks that he's being selfish. But.... I dont mind it, I know people that stick to one letter for their kids. I'm ok with it. It's not like he told me after I got prego he told me way before. My mom looks K names over and over and doesn't take to any of them. What do you ladies think? Any advice?
And I'm up for any K name suggestions for either boy or girl still haven't found out yet.

I understand that your mom is your best friend but they are not going to be her kids. My sister is my best friend but I wouldn't let her input sway my name choice for our LO. Your baby's name should be between you and your DH. If you're ok with only using the first letter of his name then that is your choice, not your mom's and even though she's not seeing any names she likes if you see names you like that is all that matters. If you don't like any K names then that is going to have to be a conversation you have with DH.
As for K names... I only had two our list, Kennedy for a girl and Kiernan for a boy.

well it's not up to your mom to name the kid. that's up to you and your fiance. and if your ok with it then i dont see the big deal.

I think the decision has to be between you and your fiance, and it is not really your moms decision to make. If you and your fiance are both ok with a "K" name, then I say go for it.

I don't think it's selfish at all. I think this is one of the reasons why my SIL and BIL didn't tell anyone their name for their daughter until after she was born. Everyone has opinions, doesn't mean you have to listen to all of them. My favorite saying is "opinions are like assholes...everyone has them and they all suck."
You're best bet is to tell your mom "I appreciate your concern but I really don't mind it and I would like for him and I to decide on our children's names and for you to just love them no matter what."

Thanks ladies you are all 100% right! I hate that it's eating my mom up I told her the one thing that is most important to us is that the baby is happy and healthy no matter what name it has.

I did this! It made life so much easier!! DH just told everyone we hadnt decided yet... I told the truth that we weren't telling... I didnt want to hear people's opinions of the name... as long as DH and I like/love the name, that is all that matters!!
