Protien in urine...
At my appt this week I had protein in my urine (it said +2 on the chart) and i had to go for a urine screen at the lab. Never had this with DS and wasn't sure if I should be concerned (won't let myself google). Called the office today the results weren't back they said I should hear by monday.
anyone else have this? TIA

Re: Protien in urine...
I had protein in my urine during my 12, 16 and 20w appts. It was never anything, though. The drs said it was probably just normal for me in pregnancy. At my 24w appt, it had gone away. Who knows. It could be a symptom of a UTI and only in late pregnancy, when accompanied by swelling and high bp, it could be pre-e. But again, it could also be nothing.
For me, it was always nothing. I'm sure it's nothing for you, too. Don't worry!

Protien in urine...
was your BP normal? a low amount could be a sign of a UTI. if its high then it could be a sign of pre-eclampsia which is NO joke especially that early. i would def make sure you stay on top of your Dr and make sure they monitor it. good luck!

Posted by NYCGirl80 only in late pregnancy, when accompanied by swelling, it could be pre-e.
this is not true at all. pre-e can ABSOLUTELY occur in the second tri, generally after 20w, and its very dangerous. it does not have to occur with swelling either!!
im not at all trying to scare you because in many cases with protein it is nothing.
i just dont want people to think that they can only get pre-e late in pregnancy. the earlier you get it the more serious it is... please visit www.preeclampsia.org to learn more.

Re: Protien in urine...
It can be a sign of pre-e, but it can also be caused from not enough fluids and or getting sick. i had low amounts of protein like yours for 4 weeks in a row due to not being able to keep down fluids for too long.
Usually if they are concerned they will send you for a 24 hour urine and or the glucose tolerance test around that time, if you havent already had it as it can be a sign of GD.

Re: Protien in urine...
i had 2+ protein in my urine around 17 weeks but my BP was fine. They did a repeat urine and sent it to the lab a few days later and it came back normal. My Dr said protein in urine could have been discharge, bladder infection or just being dehydrated! good luck!

Protien in urine...
I had protein & keytones at my recent 16 week appt- she was it was most likely from being dehydrated (and i didnt drink anything that day so extremely likely)
