Question about pediatrician?
I have two baby girls and need to find a new ped. Do you think I should go with a female over a male? Both are fantastic and highly recommended. However, I plan to stay with this doctor for the long haul and have been told the girls may be happier with a female.
What's your thoughts on this?

Re: Question about pediatrician?
It really wouldn't make a difference to me. I would go with the better credentialed of the two. However, considering there will come a point where your girls will have to discuss menstrual cycles, etc. with a doctor, maybe a female would be the better way to go solely for their own comfort.

Re: Question about pediatrician?
I prefer a female for my girls as they grow because I remember hating going to our male pediatrician as young teen.

Question about pediatrician?
I have a DD and a male ped. I'm ok with it for now, but when DD is older if she prefers a female, there is a female in the practice I like just as much as my current ped.

Re: Question about pediatrician?
I always had male doctors growing up and didn't mind it. My pediatrician for DD now is a male and someone said to me how that was unwise because maybe DD won't be comfortable being honest with him or talking to him about things in the future. That might be true, but he is the best doctor around here and I think it could help her learn to be confident and comfortable with her doctors despite gender. He is still a medical professional and hopefully she'll be able to be honest with me as well, so I can do the talking if she can't.

Re: Question about pediatrician?
I have a female since I had my DD. My ped also has a female that is approved for gyno exams - god forbid or for when you tween gets their period and you don't want to go to gyno yet. I use Dr. Rubin in Mineola
