Patients of Dr. Antoniadis..BTDT moms or 3rd tri girls
As we all know, he is sooooo nice and also I find to be really laid back and relaxed which is nice but I just kind of want to know what kind of appointments and things I should expect from visits in the upcoming weeks.
This Tuesday will be an appointment and I will be 31 1/2 weeks and my last 2 appointments, he has just listened to the heartbeat and not much else besides weight and bp of course.
I guess a couple of specific questions I have are, when does he start the actual exams (internals I guess)..and what are they like with him? I have heard such a range of "internal" stories from horror stories to "its just a normal check up type thing".
When is a sono given and do they give the weight of the baby?
Does he usually say anything about going early, late, etc..... based on the exams or sonos?
Does he talk with you about L&D at all?
Anything else you guys can share?
TIA!! Lorin

Patients of Dr. Antoniadis..BTDT moms or 3rd tri girls
Hi..I adore him..I unfortunately went into preterm labor at 32 weeks and I had internals starting then..with him, it really isn't painful, it's not comfortable, but it's bearable..he did tell me what was going to happen every step of the way and I started seeing a high risk so they did the sonos, I was monitored for contractions and did have a sono where they estimated the weight (it was WAY off)..since I was on a week by week, day by day basis, he couldn't tell me early, late, etc. but I think at 32 weeks, it seems early to estimate all of that..
ETA you are in excellent hands..he did everything for me at induction(failed) and delivery...and saw me everyday after!

I love him!!!! And unfortunately I can't help with your questions. I developed blood clots at the very beginning of my 3rd tri so I was going to him and the high risk weekly and had sonos weekly st the high risk. I never had an internal because my water broke at 37 weeks. All I can say is that no matter what happens you are in good hands.
I ended up with a csection but he let me try as long as possible to have a vaginal delivery. I would just talk to him about everything at the next appt. he always had time to talk things through with me.

Like the other ladies of said, you are in excellent hands w/him. My last few appts were not much different than my earlier appts. He checked the heart beat and asked me a few ques. As far the internal, i believe it started at 38 wks,....it was nothing I didnt feel a thing which surprised me b/c I had read posts from other ladies commenting on how painful they are. FYI these ladies were not Dr A's patients. I really dont have any other info it was pretty much like any other appt. I had no desire to go early but did ask how long he would let me go after my DD and he said 1 full week. I ended up being induced 5 days post DD due to low amniotic fluid. I was never told the babies weight when I asked, he just felt my stomach and said 7 lbs....I think he was pulling my leg. He never measured my stomach like I have heard other drs do.
Pls let me know if you have any other ques.
Good luck!

--Amazing! No pain or discomfort at all! I believe I had one at 38weeks...I delivered via c-section at 39w, 2d.
When is a sono given and do they give the weight of the baby?
--I had a sono at 32w at Madonna, I was told the weight and 38w, in his office and that woman told me the weight. She was correct with her estimation.
Does he usually say anything about going early, late, etc..... based on the exams or sonos?
--He did not tell me. But when I saw him at 36-38 weeks, he told me I was measuring ahead and to feel free to go into labor at any time lol
Does he talk with you about L&D at all?
--Only if you ask...I had to initiate any questions regarding my L & D choices.
Anything else you guys can share?
--I cannot praise this man enough. I was very uncertain about him during my pregnancy, because he was so laid back. I was actually considering not seeing him after my PP care. I felt like he didn't "guide" me like I expected to be guided. However, he did not push me to have a scheduled c, he gave me all my options and I decided on my own to be scheduled at 39w,2d. He was amazing in the OR, comforted me throughout my spinal, did a fabulous job with my incision...but that wasn't even the best part. I suffered from some post partum depression and he came to see me every day, once at 11:30pm! He was so compassionate and really cared. I am almost crying while I'm writing this. You are in amazing hands.

I just wanted to add that as laid back as he seems when there are complications he is right on top of everything. When I developed my blood clots he was super cautious about everything. He told me his biggest concern was for my health and the health of my baby and he would do anything and everything to make sure we were all fine!!!! And we were. I give him all the credit for my amazing recovery and for catching my clots when I thought I had sciatica.
