Re: How do I stop breast milk?
I am stopping breast milk as we speak. I have little by little stopped pumping. yesterday I only pumped once. You have to slowly stop. Each day just pump less and only do it for 5 min on each side just to release pressure for you. It is dangerous to just stop cold turkey (which i learned from my first child, I had a fever and everything cause I just stopped right away)

So instead of every 4 hours i should stretch it out to 5 hours and the 6 the next day and so on and so on?

How do I stop breast milk?
I just stopped last week. I was EPing and was doing 7x a day so the first day I dropped the middle of the night pump and did that for 2-3 days and then I dropped another pump by going longer stretches in between pumps. I tried to drop a pump every 2-3 days. Once I was down to 2 pumps I tried to just do one in the morning and then take a hot shower at night and try to release some milk to comfort. Then I just stopped. I used cabbage leaves in my bra and drank sage tea. I also took motrin when I was really sore. I stopped pumping on sat and I am still leaking but not sore.
If you have a clogged duct I would not stop until it's cleared bc you could get mastitis. Massage the sore spot like crazy in a hot shower and when you pump of breast feed. I would also do this every time I showered to prevent clogged ducts when I was weaning.
It took me a little over 2 weeks to stop and it was frustrating bc I wanted to be done! But take it slow so you don't hurt yourself! Kellymom.com has Some good info on weaning. FM me with any questions!

give it a few days and decrease the amount you pump slowly. quitting cold turkey is only going to make it more painful. fwiw, i got clogged ducts all the time. take a motrin, a hot shower, and massage the area well.

Re: How do I stop breast milk?
Thanks ladies. I have some lansinoh cream which helps and I've been taking my motrin. The clogged duct is in my nipple which has cause like a milk blister. It's been so painful! It's so difficult holding my baby girl. But on the other hand I'm thankful I've been able to produce a good amount of breast milk for her. I've read to treat this I need to apply heat prior to pumping and ice afterwards to dull the pain. Guess i was hoping I could get over this sooner. Is lansinoh cream ok to put on a milk blister?

Yes. Other tips from Kellymom:

Honestly mama, try to hang in there. BFing is a b!tch in the beginning, but you don't want to regret quitting because you hit a (very painful) speed bump early in the game. This too shall pass...

Re: How do I stop breast milk?
The only reason I stopped nursing and started pumping was because I was so engorge! I looked like dolly parton the morning my milk came in!! Bazoonga! There was no way for her to latch so I pumped. And I've been ever since. I wanted to start nursing again but with this blister it's too painful to think about!!

Re: How do I stop breast milk?
I have no experience with stopping production really, but I have plenty with clogged ducts. I know it's painful, but unless you're sure it's what you really want, don't give up. Get in a nice, hot shower & try massaging the lump. Put warm compresses on it. Most importantly nurse as much & as often as you possibly can which will get things moving. I know it's painful, believe me I know, but once we got thru the beginning parts it was so worth it. For the blisters, lansinoh cream can be a lifesaver.
