BTDT - are you getting enough sleep?

Are the other BTDT moms getting enough sleep? I know I'm not. I should probably try to sleep earlier, but I rarely go to bed before 10:30. And then DD gets up at 6 or earlier. Her naptime is my "me" time, when I prep dinner, or do other housework.

How are the rest of you doing this?? I'm 34w. Am I hurting the new baby by not getting enough sleep?

I get more sleep now with a nb than I did pg, between trips to the bathroom, insomnia, and being so uncomfortable. Insane.

You're not hurting the baby, but you may be impairing your own functionality.

When I was pregnant with my DD, I basically wasn't sleeping at the end. It was torture. I was big, uncomfortable, swollen, peeing all the time...........I couldn't slep a full night at all. I hate the end, I am dreading it with #2. Chat Icon

Re: BTDT - are you getting enough sleep?

I passed out in DS's bed last night at 8:30 - woke up confused at 2AM. So no, I'm not getting enough sleep and I'm exhausted (although not today - I feel refreshed!). When I was pg with DS I had horrible insomnia, so even though I'm not getting much sleep now, I was getting even less when I was pg with him. With that in mind - I'm sure you're not harming your baby!

The latest I go to bed is 10pm. My girls are in bed by 8pm and I sometimes will knock right out. I feel that if I go to bed at 9pm, I get the best sleep. I get up at 6:30am with the girls.

Re: BTDT - are you getting enough sleep?

You're not hurting the baby by not getting enough sleep, your body will naturally keep you up in preparation for being up with a newborn. So you might not like the lack of sleep, but baby is completely fine.Chat Icon

Re: BTDT - are you getting enough sleep?

I get in a good amount of hours, but they are interrupted due to pee breaks and getting up with my DS who is fighting off a cold. I only feel rested if my DS sleeps through the night, which doesn't happen often.

I work full time, and when I was home 2 days last week with my son, I was MORE tired by the end of the day than when I work. At work I sit at my desk all day and use my brain, not my body. At home, my brain is napping, but my body is up and down the stairs, doing laundry, playing with my DS, picking him up, cleaning up toys, etc. I was physically exhausted and needed to ask my DH to give my son a bath.

Re: BTDT - are you getting enough sleep?

at 37 weeks I'm getting little to no sleep. If i sleep for 45 minute increments i'm lucky. I'm up every hour every night, so no matter what time I start trying to go to sleep it doesn't matter.

Re: BTDT - are you getting enough sleep?

No...I don't get to bed before 10:30 after caring for DD. Then I'm up to use the bathroom about every 2 hours and then turing from side to side all while working full time
