Poll--What carseat...especially for LONG babies!
Hi,
Could you guys help me out. My son seems like he'll soon be out of his infant carseat, I have the Graco Snugride now. So I'm looking for the next carseat...any suggestions??
Thanks!

Emily is very tall and we have the Marathon, and it's great because it goes up to 65 lbs. The decathalon does as well but is more expensive for pretty much the same seat with an extra cushion.

I just bought the Britax Marathon because my son outgrew his infant car seat at 4 mths. The marathon was suggested by the sales person in BBB since my son is on the tall side. I love the chair, it's so roomy!

I know everyone raves about Britax, but for those of us who can't afford them....
we got the $79 Graco Comfort Sport model. DD LOVES it, it was easy to install.
And to be honest with you....carseats have Federal Standards....all carseats cheap or expensive have to meet those standards.

I've been really happy with the Boulevard. Its as big as they get, and has the extra side impact protection which doubles as a head rest for naps!

I also have the Boulevard but it is in DH's car and the carrier is in my car. He seems more comfortable in the car seat. It does have extra protection on the sides and a cushion toward his lower back that wraps around and DS actually uses it as a elbow rest. It's so cute. The marathon looks like a great car seat also but when DS fall asleep inthe car his head slumps to the side an the side protection in the Boulevard seems to hold his up more. You can always go to BRU and try out the various carseats with you son and see which one you like and you think he will be safe in and what he feels comfortable in.

Oh, I didn't even think to try them out at BRU. I worry about his head slumping b/c it does in his infant seat now...when he falls asleep his head falls forward.
THANKS to everyone for the advice!

We have the evenflo triumph - it's rated the best by consumer reports in terms of safety and it costs much less than the Britax. We have an amazingly long baby and she's VERY comfy in her carseat.

Which Triumph? I'm looking on BRU and there are a few versions of it.
Also, it looks like the Britax ones are up to 65 lbs, but the Evenflo is up to 40 lbs.

We have the Recaro Young Sport. Jesse loves it and fits in it well. It has the side impact protection so if he naps, his head has support to the side. Recaro makes the seats for racecars, so they know safety. The seat is built very well.

Re: Poll--What carseat...especially for LONG babies!
I chose other because we have two car seats in waiting (still in snugride). The Britax Decathelon(I liked the Hampton print!) for my car and the Graco Comfort Sport for my husbands car. The reason why we chose two different ones was because, one the Britax is highly rated and we use my car mostly, and two the Comfort Sport because it is recommend for air travel and my mother doesn't live in the state, this way we can travel too!

We had the triumph also and were very happy with it. He went from the triumph to a booster seat b/c at almost 4 he is no where near 65 pounds and we didn't want the bulk of a car seat anymore.

Re: Poll--What carseat...especially for LONG babies!
I have a long little one and even with the Marathon we would push off the back of the seat and slide his feet around and hit the back of the seat when he was rearfacing.
ETA: now that we are foward facing and not reclined, his feet can hang over, but he is still kicking the front seat and pushing against it! LOL

I second this. I love my Boulevard and really love the side impact protection.
