How many clothes in each size?
Whats a good guideline on how many clothes are needed in each size?
I'm excited to shop for baby, but have absolutely no concept on what is needed. Obviously I can buy as I go along, but generally - how many size 0-3 outfits are you stocking up on?
Do they tend to need more/less/same in larger sizes?
I really have no clue - I don't want to go crazy but what is 'crazy'? Is it 10-20-30 per size?
What about basic white onsies? Is a 5 pack in each size sufficient?

How many clothes in each size?
dh and I thought we had a lot of clothes for DD we had so many 0-3 months clothes but when DD was born she was 7lbs 12 oz and the 0-3 was too large for her. We had to go out and buy more newborn clothes for her. She did not have any long sleeved onsies nor new born cotton pants i would get a lot of essentials like onsies and cotton pants in NB size rather than getting 3-6 mo clothes.

How many clothes in each size?
DS is 10 days old. We had about 10 sleepers in newborn size, but only 3 actually fit him (he's small) when he was born and I desperately needed more immediately! We change him at least once a day, but sometimes as much as 4x a day between pee, spitup, etc. A friend whose son is a month older than ours has outgrown his nb clothes (they also have a son who is 3 who was a premie so they had clothing from him still) and gave me about 15 more outfits. I honestly think between 20 & 25 is just right.
However, if your child isn't as tiny as ours (he was 6 lbs 7 oz at birth, down ato 6 lbs 5.5 oz leaving the hospital, 6 lbs 3.5 oz at day 4, but back up to 6 lbs 6 oz at day 6, thankfully) you're not going to need much nb stuff since they grow out of it very quickly (within a month usually, even for a small full-term baby like ours) and could get away with some 0-3s that will start out a little too large but will last longer.
I hate putting onesies on a nb. I hate having to go over his head. I like sleep n plays with snaps. Some people like zippers because they're faster. I like snaps because I don't have to undress him all the way to change him, keeping him a little warmer. It does depend on the season, but even right now sleepers are perfect for wearing all the time IMHO.
As you go up in size, you won't be changing as often, but they'll be in the clothing slightly longer. 0-3s and 3 m clothing should last a few months. But my friend's 5 m/o is already in 9 month clothing. He was born at 36+6 but was 7 lbs 11 oz at birth and is something crazy like 19 lbs already! It totally varies so much child to child.
I'd keep about 15-25 sleepers on hand in nb and 0-3 and 3 m size and take it from there once the baby is here. Keep receipts. Kohl's will let you return items even if they are washed and tagless as long as you have receipts.
Oh, and pants with feet on them are essential. No way any tiny tiny baby is keeping socks on. Just fyi.

Re: How many clothes in each size?
Thanks for your responses.
It helps to have a general ballpark. I know each baby is different but I want to do my best to be somewhat prepared.
