Tired of always being the one to make the drive

I just have to vent. I am meeting up with a friend tomorrow and as usual she wants me to drive as close to her as possible. She even suggested that I go to her house and then we could go somewhere for dinner.

I know it may sound petty but I work full time year round and she is a teacher and home during the summer. The least I would expect would be that she would be willing to come my way when she is not working. We live between a 1/2 hr and 45 minutes apart.

I am also grumpy because I am worried that this will continue and it will winter I will be VERY pregnant and she will still expect me to make the drive.

Part of her reasoning is that she is not a confident driver. She works close to come and doesn't venture very far.

How do I get her to come my way?

Just tell her- hey, I am pregnant- I get really sleepy and don't want to have an accident later in the evening.

I'm in the same boat...I always have to be the one to drive to meet my friends and family. I don't have any advice to give you because I haven't figured it out yet.

The only thing I could suggest is say there is a restaurant near you that you really want to try and see if she'll come.

If the Cheesecake Factory at Smithhaven would be finished, that would entice her. She suggested I go to her house so we could go there. She lives in East Meadown. I live in Central Islip.

Re: Tired of always being the one to make the drive

I actually live by your friend and have several friends that live out East. We usually meet halfway, like the Walt Whitman Mall or somewhere on Route 110 for lunch for example. That seems to work for the most part. I have another friend that lives in Coram and we recently met at Robert Moses to go to the beach. See if she's willing to compromise a little - it's only fair and hopefully she'll be a little more understanding now that you're expecting.

I dont think it is very fair of her. I think she should be coming to you or meeting half way. My friend lives in Medford and I live in Farmingdale. She either comes to me and we go from here or I meet her half way because she knows I don't feel comfortable driving that far alone with DS. I think your friend needs to be more sympathic to your needs especially in yoru first trimester when you are the most tired.

thats happened to me with a number of fans. Next time you make plans for dinner, just say I'd really like to try this place and pick a place thats closer to you!

I think you should talk to her about it. Either agree to meet halfway, or alternate which friend makes the commute.
I have a friend that does this all the time and finally I had to say something.
