How did you all know which bottles to get? so many choices. Is one brand better than the other? Which did you get?
ETA: i've read that wide neck bottles are better if you plan to switch between bottle feeding and breastfeeding. Are they also good in the event that you end up NOT breastfeeding? Which brands are wide neck?
Sorry I'm just completely clueless about all this.

Re: bottles
Honestly, you should get a couple of bottles - different brands. You never know what your child will "take" to. We started with Tommee Tippee, switched to Dr. Brown's and ended up with Avent. And I've heard great things about Playtex drop-in's, but never tried them.

I am not BFing... but my best friend and sister both said they tried several and wasted money on them to end up using Dr Brown's. I have never heard anyone say that Dr Brown's didn't work for them and their baby, so that is what we registered for.

Re: bottles
It's all trial and error and what works for your baby.
For us what worked with all 3 was playtex ventair bottles, wide neck and the paytex drop ins. The nipples were interchangable between the two. Also Avent worked.

My friend's baby would not use the DR. Browns!! she hated them! So my friend had to switch like 10 times!!! Finally ended up with a cheapie bottle with disposable nipples!

Re: bottles
we started with Dr. Browns. I hated all the parts so I switched the Tommee Tippee and they were great! We used them from 4w - 15months.
This time around, I am going with the Playtex Nurser and drop-ins

Buy a bunch of different brands. You never know which one baby will prefer.

Re: bottles
i did some searches on here to see what people liked/pros & cons. then i registered for a 3 pack of born free and 2 playtex drop-ins to start. plus i have an avent that i got as a free sample, and one other brand the same way - i forget now. i figure i'll find out what works best for LO and i and then go buy what i need.

Re: bottles
i ebf, and the lc i met with suggested breastflow. other bf friends liked playtex drop ins. the latch on these two bottles is more like the latch on a breast so its easier for a baby to switch back and forth.
you have a little more flexibility if you ff. just register for a few kinds and see what the baby likes.

Re: bottles
I am only formula feeding and am starting off with the Avent Nautral. I considered Dr. Brown's but I'm imagining all that formula getting stuck in the tubes and I'd rather try all the easier-to-clean options before going for that! If Avent Natural doesn't work, I'll probably try the older Avent, then Born Free, then Playtex, then Dr. Brown's.

I love the Dr. Brown's. We had started with ventaires and drop-ins for DD because I was trying to EBF but she flipped out around 3 m old and wouldn't use them. Switched to Dr. Brown's and never looked back.
This time we started with the enfamil nursettes with the disposable nipples and are using Dr. Brown's too. I'm having zero issue with nipple confusion (DS is 8 days old) -- he goes from bottle to boob to paci and back with no issues. I don't believe in nipple confusion if you start switching them up often enough early enough. But if you're trying to EBF it's not always practical since you want the baby on the boob all the time. I'm FF and giving him the boob whenever I can and pumping and giving him what I can, but he's probably still 90% formula right now (hoping to get more milk for him, but not holding my breath since I have PCOS and has severe supply issues with DD and she almost starved).

Originally I registered for a giant set from Dr. Browns, but I didn't want to get stuck with all these bottles if they didn't work for me.
I wound up registering for a few different smaller sets. I registered for the Avent natural bottles and the Dr. Brown's - this way I can try both and exchange if need be. I'm hoping to stick with avent, since they have less parts, but we will have to see...

We registered for Dr. Brown's after doing some research. I know a few people who have great things to say about them. I registered for quite a few but I won't open them all and if our LO doesn't like them I'll exchange them for something else.

Re: bottles
we started with tommy tippee and medela and ended up with dr.brown. both of those brands come in wideneck as well. the only prob with wideneck is that they are bigger than the standard bottle, so if you are using a bottle warmer you will have to buy one that will be big enough, otherwise the bottle wont fit. There was another annoyance with them but i forget. i use the reg size dr. brown bottles. there are a bunch of parts which can be annoying but they seem to work for dd.
