Sub-chorionic bleed
I'm 8 weeks pregnant with twins. Last night, I got out of my car and all of a sudden blood was gushing out of me. My pants were soaked through. I went home and still was gushing blood and clots ( tmi sorry). My DH brought me to the ER and after hours of waiting, we did a beta test and an ultrasound and amazingly- there were 2 strong heartbeats! My DH and I were shocked and so relieved. I thought there was no way with all that blood I didn't miscarry. The doctor diagnosed me with a sub-chorionic bleed. So I have to take it easy the next few days which isn't easy with a 3 year old at home. Luckily today my mom and sister are here to help me.
Anyone go through this? Any advice? Hard not to worry.

Re: Sub-chorionic bleed
Crashing here ... So many people have these things and it passes and things are totally fine. Unfortunately, I had triplets and lost them from a subchorionic hematoma because I was not so lucky. Don't let people tell you it's JUST a subchorionic hematoma and that it's harmless because I'm telling you firsthand that that's not always the case. I'm not trying to scare you at all, but this was my reality... and it seems like yours was pretty bad so do what you can to stay off your feet as much as possible until you are no longer bleeding. You should be going back to your doctor to be monitored to see how far the clot is from the babies.... If you are on blood thinners (lovenox.. baby aspirin... you need to contact your doctor to find out what you should do with taking them or not..) Ultimately, stressing won't change the outcome but there are defiitely things you can do to cut down on the risks.
eta: I'm sorry if this sounds harsh... I'm really just speaking from MY reality, just the way everyone else is here. People who ended up being fine will tell you they're sure you will be too ... .people who had it not work out, won't be so positive. The truth is, these things usually don't cause a loss, but the sad reality is that they CAN.. so just stay off your feet and hope for the best. Most likely you and the babies will be fine, but it's nothing that me or anyone else here can predict. Best of luck!

Re: Sub-chorionic bleed
I had a subchorionic hematoma with bleeding from 6 weeks until about 19 weeks. I also have a toddler!
My babies are almost 8 months now and very healthy!

Re: Sub-chorionic bleed
I had one at 14 weeks with DS #1. It scared the hell out of us. I thought for sure I was losing him, it was a pretty bad bleed. But he was perfectly fine. The bleeding stopped soon after it started and I never had any additional bleeding. I was advised to take it easy as well for a few days.
I'm sure everything is great, just try to rest!

Re: Sub-chorionic bleed
I had an SCH which bled off and on from weeks 6-10. The first bleed @ 6 weeks lasted for 4 days with varying severity (horrific bleeding on the first day). I was told that during a bleed, I was to stay completely off of my feet, in bed (or the couch), and was not to lift anything over 5 lbs.
I am 22 weeks now. Knock wood, things are totally fine and the SCH resolved itself.

Re: Sub-chorionic bleed
thank you everyone you made me feel better. I haven't had heavy bleeding since Sunday (thank you God ) but I do still have occasional brown blood come out. I have been taking it easy. I had an RE appt this morning and everything looked great, the doc could still see a small area of blood and he said it may or may not come out (great) but hopefully will reabsorb. Babies heart rates were 165 and 167bpm, measuring 8w3d
SO THANKFUL!!!
Now hang in there little boys and or girls (or both lol) and SCH go away...
