what is this pain?

My doc once said that all cramps are contractions... With that in mind, are those cramps/contractions?

I had a growth sono this am, babies and cervix looked good but I don't know if they can or do check for contractions.
Had lunch, driving home I had acid reflux so bad I went home to throw up and my belly started hurt. Now I have cramps really bad in the lower right and left sides of my belly and it hurts to stand straight or walk. I had it last night too after being on my feet for too long.

I thought your belly hardens with contractions? I don't notice any hardening. And they come and go? I haven't paid attention to the timing... sorry my doctor hasn't really prepped me on this. I'm 28 weeks with twins.

Re: what is this pain?

I've had tightening with and without pain. They can check for contractions on the belly monitor but they have only done this at the hospital.

I think contractions are different for everyone. If it continues I'd call the dr. Your stomach could be upset. (hopefully).

Did you lift anything heavy? I wound up with "contraction" after lifotng heavy boxes. They weren't too heavy for me but I guess I overdid it.

Could be dehydration. I would drink a ton and relax for a long time. They could be Braxton hicks of there is no tightening.

Ok so this is from webmd

Braxton Hicks Contractions - Topic Overview

During the second and third trimesters of pregnancy, you may notice episodes when your belly tightens and becomes firm to the touch, then relaxes. These are episodes of tightening (contraction) of the uterine muscles called Braxton Hicks contractions. These normal contractions may be hardly noticeable or may be strong enough to make you stop what you are doing.

Considered "warm-up" exercises for the uterus, Braxton Hicks contractions can begin as early as the 20th week of pregnancy, although most often they start between the 28th and 30th week.

Braxton Hicks contractions are usually infrequent in mid-pregnancy. However, they can be more frequent during the ninth month, sometimes occurring as often as every 10 to 20 minutes.1

Braxton Hicks contractions:

Usually disappear during exercise or activity (unlike true labor pains, which continue or increase if you move around).
Are more noticeable during rest.

It may be hard to tell the difference between Braxton Hicks contractions and true labor. If there is any doubt, consult your health professional.

I was worng about the tightening but it still could have been BH's. Hope you are feeling better

Re: what is this pain?

when i spotted i had cramps like i get here and there on a regular basis and they put the monitor on me and there were no contractions... its probably your uterus streching or the ligaments

Re: what is this pain?

I had this at 18 weeks. The first day was very bad, I could not walk, it was just hurting so much, and i knew I just had to rest and drink drink drink water. I did go to Dr. the next day for a baby check, all was aok, and they were not concerned. It did subside by day 4..with each day after the first being better. Maybe body is just doing some major stretching?? I don't know..

today i woke up at 5am with a new pain! cramping in my stomach above my belly button. this time i counted, every 10 minutes until i drank 2 glasses of gatorade and it subsided.
im waiting to hear from the doctor but the nurse seems to think it's a stomach virus.

I would keep drinking!!!! It might be from dehydration. But def keep in touch with your Dr. Because you are PG with twins I would not overlook anything. I ignored most of my cramping and because I had weekly NST (they monitor for contractions) and the NST always showed I was havign contractions but I never felt a single one!!! You never know what is goign on. Call the Dr to be safe and DRINK UP!!!!! GL!!!
