A couple of questions
As I'm getting closer I have more questions! I figured I would just have one thread and ask everything I have to. Hopefully some BTDT moms can help out a new mom
1. I have 2 swaddle mes and 2 sleep sacks (1 small, 1 medium). Do I need more of either?
2. My hospital bag right now consists of: -nightgown (cheap one) -nursing bra -nursing tank -sweatpants (probably end up wearing these home with the tank and a sweatshirt) -pads -toiletries -socks (no skid ones) -granny panties -baby's going home outfit, hat, and undershirt -receiving blanket -flip flops
Anything else important I'm missing? Or anything I might be able to take out? Cell phone charger, camera, kindle will be packed at a later time.
3. Do I need a humidifier? I never had one and my mom never used one with any of my siblings. Is it a necessity?
4. How close is your pediatrician to your house?
I might have to add on to my question list- I'm always thinking of new things!! Thanks in advance for any help
ETA- yet another question!

A couple of questions
extra stuff you might want in your hospital bag: -- some change / small bills in case you get hungry and want the vending machine -- change of clothes for DH -- snacks / water if you're hungry -- plastic bags to keep dirty clothes in -- a big empty tote bag to "steal" all the freebies from the hospital
no idea about the other two questions but i have about 5 sleep sacks (i'm thinking they get dirty easily since Baby's prob gonna poop / spit up on them sooner or later)
and i have a humidifier but again, no idea yet if it's a "must have" or not

A couple of questions
That's fine for the swaddling blankets right now. You'll have to see what you/the baby end up liking/using.
Since it seems you plan on nursing, I'd suggest adding nursing pads and cream (e.g. Lansinoh Lanolin) to your hospital bag. Also, if you have a Boppy or Breastfriend, you'll want to bring that to the hospital, too.
A humidifier isn't an immediate essential. You will probably EVENTUALLY need one, but I wouldn't worry about running out and getting one right now.
My ped is less than 5 min from my house, but when my older DD was a newborn, my ped was more like 15 min away (we changed a couple of years ago).

Re: A couple of questions
I only used swaddle me's the first few mos. Sleep sacks didnt come until DD started rolling and the startle reflex stopped (5 mos?). If your baby likes swadding like mine did, you will prob end up needing or buying more swaddle me's or swaddle blankets.
I got a humidifier and its still sitting in dd's closet, unopened at 19 mos. She's been sick many times, and I've yet to bust it out.
The ped is 5 mins from our house. One of the main reasons we chose this practice was the proximity and also saturday and sunday hours. The hours were what really sold us. I've brought her to the ped a few times on the weekend. I've gotten to weed out a few dr's we dont really love there, and try to especially see 3 of the 7 that are there.
good luck!

Re: A couple of questions
1. Sounds perfect. Your baby may hate one or the other so you should see what they like first.
2. I didn't wear a nightgown there... I wore night comfy sweat paints the entire time with a nursing tank and a hoodie. I brought a robe but didn't use it. I did however use my slippers every day and night (my son was in NICU)
We also made a bag for my hubby. With a magazine, snacks, clothing, ipad or something to keep him busy. Keep in mind whatever you are missing someone will bring it for you if you ask. I saw someone wrote nursing pads. I didn't bc the hospital has them.
With that said you are paying for the hospital in one way or another. Bring an extra bag to bring stuff home every day have your hubby empty it. (diapers, wipes, creams, nursing pads, reg. pads, if you have a vaginal birth then that cream and witch hassle pad things and anything else you can get your hands on). They are expecting you to do this and whatever you don't use they toss. I even asked for more then I wasn't out of things once or twice a day. My son was in the NICU so I couldn't do it with diapers so I took other things. Including the bathing thing for the baby. I still use the circle bowl thing to poor water over my sons head almost 2 years later :)
3. Yes you will but not until a little later when you LO has a cold.
4. 5-10 minutes depending on the lights.
**EDITED to also add I regret not taking a blanket that from the hospital that he was put in when born. Take that too :)

Re: A couple of questions
-def. bring the boppy -I brought an over-sized beach towel -I also brought a lightweight robe to go over my nursing tank -extra blanket for dh if he plans to stay the night -extra bag to put stuff in -slippers -bring a pen (you have to fill out paperwork and it is nice to have on hand) -snacks -I wouldn't purchase more sleep sacks until you know your ds likes them. (mine did not) -I would get the humidifier! ds was born in november and got congested often.

A couple of questions
I wouldn't get more sleep sacks or blankets yet. My DS hated both so we never used them.
Bag looks good. You really don't need much and your DH can bring you stuff
I have not used my humidifier even once. I'd hold off on one
My Ped is 5 mins from my house. I would have gone a bit further if needed

Re: A couple of questions
1. I have 2 swaddle mes and 2 sleep sacks (1 small, 1 medium). Do I need more of either? Not right now. This is enough.
2. My hospital bag right now consists of: -nightgown (cheap one) -nursing bra -nursing tank -sweatpants (probably end up wearing these home with the tank and a sweatshirt) -pads -toiletries -socks (no skid ones) -granny panties -baby's going home outfit, hat, and undershirt -receiving blanket -flip flops I would add: Boppy pillow, under toiletrees: Body Spray and/Body Wash, Hairbrush, toothbrush/paste, Lysol Wipes (in case you share a room/bathroom) The hospital should be able to provide Lanolish, pads, mesh underwear. Pack a nightgown IN CASE you have a c-section. I couldn't wear banded pants for a few days.
3. Do I need a humidifier? I never had one and my mom never used one with any of my siblings. Is it a necessity? It definitely helps for when the baby get stuffy. Their air passages are so tiny.
4. How close is your pediatrician to your house? 2 miles

No I have 2 also and DD doesn't love to be swaddled or sleep in the sleep sack. She is a free-spirit ;)
2. My hospital bag right now consists of:
Anything else important I'm missing? Or anything I might be able to take out? Cell phone charger, camera, kindle will be packed at a later time.
I would add another pair or sweatpants or two. I bled through one pair of pants and didn't have another. Also, I had a c-section and was in the hospital for 4 days, and if your DH is like mine, I would have ended up with my skinny sweat pants, not maternity ones like I needed. Also, like PP said, nipple cream and the boppy. 3. Do I need a humidifier? I never had one and my mom never used one with any of my siblings. Is it a necessity?
I just had to go out a buy one, DD is 16 days old. She is congested and ped said to get one. So to save yourself a trip to target, I would get one.
4. How close is your pediatrician to your house?
11 minutes
