Anyone have DC who didn't like solids?
I was so excited to start DD on solids at 6 months. We started with oatmeal and she hated it. Gagged, pushed my hand away and made funny faces. Then the next day mixed in applesauce. Still hated it. Hated applesauce on its own. Tried sweet potatoes and bananas. The girl won't eat!!! Dr said some kids may never take to baby food. Any advice?

Give her some more time. It took my DS about a month before he really started to get interested. We just kept trying with very small quantities of food. Now at 16 months he can't stop eating.

I have no advice. I am having the same problem with my DS. He has to start eating solids. He is taking in so much formula I can't keep up with him We have a ped appt tomorrow. Maybe he will give us some tips. I have given it a rest for a bit, but we are going to start again.

Yeah it stinks. I thought she'd love food. Some say keep trying and some say take a break. She's only eating about 30 oz. a day so she's not a big eater to begin with. I'm wondering if I puréed some real bananas if she'd like it.

Re: Anyone have DC who didn't like solids?
I started my DD on solids just shy of 6 months. It was a battle!!! She would spit it out, cry, scream and throw such a tantrum that I gave up. After about 2 months I was so overwhelmed. She would not eat a thing and I would end up stressed and crying. Around 8 months I just started giving her finger foods (pasta, bread, carrots, etc.) She began to eat more and enjoyed it. I started introducing table foods shortly after and she loved it! Now at almost 11 months, she eats everything! I never give her "baby food," she eats what we eat. It has made my life sooooooo much easier. No need to worry about bringing food with me if we go out, just cut food into smaller bites and we are good to go.

Have you looked into baby led weaning? She might just not be a puree kid.

Re: Anyone have DC who didn't like solids?
She might not be ready She might not like the flavor She might not like the consistency
Have you made her food or are you getting the jarred stuff? IMO homemade always tastes better. Take a banana and smush it well with a fork. Bake a sweet potato, peel it, take a tbsp and thin it with BM or formula.
How's her pincer grasp? Some families skip baby food altogether and go straight to finger foods. Google Baby-Led Weaning for info.
eta: If all else fails... keep in mind that "food before 1 is just for fun."

My DD hates solids. I have tried everything so I don't force it anymore. My DD really only drinks 30 oz as well! I was told some babies will not eat baby food but will take to regular food better when they get older!
