Help with this one..Follistim
When I received my meds from the Pharmacy they told me it didn't need to be refrigerated. After speaking to Rsofny about these meds they told me to put them in the fridge. On the back it says to keep refrigerated. So I'm worried now this drug won't be effective? Rsofny swears it's fine. They have not been opened yet. Shame on the pharmacy for not letting me know this information. I didn't even think to look at the back of the box. I don't want to mess this up! It finally went in the fridge 5 days later. Has this happened to anyone? Do you think the follistim is still okay?
Someone please help me!!

Re: Help with this one..Follistim
At least with gonal it is good for 3 months once it's not refrigerated.
eta: so assume it's the same for follistim (they're the same drug) then you can no longer go by the expiration date on the box. If you end up getting pregnant and donating the meds, you must make the person aware of that as well. Good luck!!

Thanks but the class I went to told me once the med is in the pen I do not need to keep that refridgerated. Only the unopened ones. I'll ask my RE this question tomorrow.

Re: Help with this one..Follistim
I spoke to 2 RE's this morning and the Nurses. All Folistim that is unopened has to stay in the fridge. If you have it in the pen it does not need o re refrigerated. But I am gonna keep mine in the fridge anyways.

Help with this one..Follistim
directly from the follistim packaging:
How should I store Follistim AQ Cartridge? • Store Follistim AQ Cartridge in the refrigerator between 2-8°C (36-46°F) until the expiration date. • Follistim AQ can be stored at or below 25°C (77°F) for 3 months or until the expiration date, whichever comes first. Once the rubber inlay of the Follistim AQ Cartridge has been pierced by a needle, the product may be stored only for a maximum of 28 days at 2-25°C (36-77°F).
so yes, once opened it can be stored anywhere since you would theoretically need to use it within 28 days regardless. without refrigeration though its a 3m shelf life as opposed to whatever the expiration date says.
