Toys for 3 year old
Da will be 3 at the end of November and then right after is Christmas so I really need a list. DH and I have no intention in getting an i Pad or I phone so do you think anything from the Leapfrog collection would be similar and more economical. Any other suggestions? I was going to get some DVDs -he had miniature animals, nega blocks . tons of trucks and cars already. He likes Thomas but too young for an elaborate train set.

My DS loves his Plama Car! We have wood floors and a long hallway so it's great for in the house.

What do you mean by elaborate train set? For Thomas tracks or a set like imaginarium 2-4 is the perfect age, any older and those are history imo. Last year in Nov I got ds a $200 table for $79.

Re: Toys for 3 year old
I'd rethink the trains - Sean has loved them since he was just over a year, and now Colin plays with them too.
Sean is at the age where he would pretty much keep an 'elaborate' track set up for the most part - but Colin destroys it ........That's the great thing about the wooden Thomas stuff though, VERY sturdy!
But the both LOVE to play with the trains (track neatly together or not) Sean is now 3.5 and Colin 1.5

DS loved (and still loves) the geo trax trains and cars. They are motorized trains with individual control systems. You would have to put the trax together, but they are the next step up for a train enthusiast. I would get board games, puzzles, dr. kit, mr. potato head, or imaginext toys.
