Where can I get MaterniT 21 Test
So I posted earlier this week that the NT scan had an elevated risk for downs and before being given the advice to get off of google, I saw this test called the MaterniT21. It's just a blood test so no risk to the baby but it is 99.9% accurate as recognizing down syndrome. I called my doctor's office and they said they never heard of the test before. Is this weird? I know that it's new and maybe they don't offer it, but to never hear of it? Has anyone gotten this test, can I go anywhere else to get it done?

MaterniT 21 Test
If its the same test my dr recommended, its a new blood test that can yield the same result as an amnio. It's far less invasive and can be done during weeks 10-12 I think. I believe I'm being tested for it at my NT scan next week. I can let you know more certain after my appointment.

My OB just offered it to me in the office. Did you ask your doctor. Mr Perinatal doc offers it but he's in the city/White plains

I have left messages all week for the doc. I finally spoke to a nurse and she said she had never heard to that test and there is nothing but an amnio to check for down syndrome.

I got mine at Winthrop Perinatal in Mineola.
I didnt have it done but was offered it here also. I think it cost between $200 & $300.

I got mine done there as well. My doc recommended it, but it is a very new test so I guess maybe not all docs know about it.
Insurance didn't cover it, so it cost $475 out of pocket. FM if you have any other questions!

I was the first patient at my OB/GYN to have this test done. I spoke to a high risk doc. and genetisist about CVS, and they are the ones that suggested it. I did it right in Stonybrook tech park. $235.00 out of pocket with or without insurance coverage. If this is your area, FM me, and I'll be happy to share with you.

I go to North Shore Obgyn and just had this test done, same day as the NT scan. I was told it was 90% accurate. Not sure if it is covered yet. They said it can cost up to 250. results in one week. I would change OBs ASAP if they said they never heard of it. YES it is relatively new in NY but this just shows how up to date they are. RUN.
