NT Scan: 2 parts?
I went for my NT scan yesterday. They took a vial of blood and did the sono. I was told everything looked good but wouldn't know anything more until the second part in three weeks. I was 13w1d yesterday so the next appointment I'll be 16w1d. Is this normal to have two parts for the NT scan?
On a side note: my LO was stubborn again! This time it wouldn't move around for the technician. We saw it touch its nose twice! It had its little legs crossed at the ankles! My husband said it was relaxing. Reminds me of someone I know who lays on the couch and watches tv! We saw its heart fluttering. Its amazing what technology can do nowadays!

NT Scan: 2 parts?
I did have blood drawn at my OB office at my appointment after the NT scan as the 2nd part of the testing for downs and any other chromosomal abnormalities

NT Scan: 2 parts?
My Dr gave me preliminary risk numbers based off the first blood and ultrasound and then the final numbers after I had the 2nd blood draw a few weeks later.

Same as the above girls - I had a blood draw at 16 w that completed the results.
That's so cute how much you saw the baby move!!

NT Scan: 2 parts?
I had the NT Scan at 11w6d, then the AFP at 15w4d.... it was another sono & more blood work... they kept telling me it was the 2nd part of the NT.

Re: NT Scan: 2 parts?
I had the NT scan at 11w 4d with blood for DS. Then at 16w 2d I had a 16w anatomy scan and at 16w 4d they took the blood to go along with that scan and said it was the second part of the DS testing.

NT Scan: 2 parts?
i had my NT Scan at 12w. they pricked my finger and did the ultrasound. i called a week later and they gave me the results for chromosomal/abnormalities. at 16w i went back and they took more blood and did an early anatomy scan. The two scans were not related, as in, its not the second part of the NT Scan. When I went in at 19w they gave me the updated abnormalities results based on the blood they drew from 16w

Re: NT Scan: 2 parts?
At 12w you get the NT scan and at 16w you have a blood test, which is the AFP. They are both testing for genetic issues, which is why they probably said it was a 2-part test. They are actually different tests, but both test for genetic diseases.

Re: NT Scan: 2 parts?
Thanks ladies for all of the replies!
I find out the results from yesterday at my regular doctor in 2 weeks. Then the "2nd" appointment is in 3 weeks.
I'm just glad I get to see my LO often!

NT Scan: 2 parts?
I got results back a week after the scan, but they do more testing to tweek the results at 16 weeks. This is my understanding at least.
