Moms of preemies with 2+ kids

My son was 10 weeks early and my first. my water broke, but no one knows why.

Did you have a preemie with your first pregnancy? How long did you wait before getting pregnant with number two? Was number 2 early as well? Did you see a high risk doctor for number two?

DH and I always wanted to have our kids close together. DS will be 6 months tomorrow and we have just started thinking about what to expect next time.

If you have friends in this situation, I'd love to hear those experiences, too

Thanks!!

Re: Moms of preemies with 2+ kids

My first pregnancy was with twins. They were born at 30 weeks. Never had an exact reason why I went into early labor. I got pregnant again when my twins turned one and I made it all the way to my 39w2d scheduled csection.

I know my situation is a little different because I had twins the first time but just wanted to let you know that I did go o to have a full term pregnancy fairly soon after.

This exactly for me too, except mine were born at 32 weeks. I got pregnant a few weeks before they turned one. I had my scheduled Csection at 39 weeks exactly.

my twins were born at exactly 36 weeks w/ an emergency c/s. With DS#3, I went into labor on my own also at exactly 36 weeks. I did not see a high risk dr for ds#3.

Not me, but my mom delivered me at 30 weeks, like you her water just broke with no real reason. She later (21 months later) carried my sister to 38 weeks and brother (18 months after my sister) to 41 weeks!

Moms of preemies with 2+ kids

My DD was not a preemie. She was only about a week or so early. No problems or complications at all with her pregnancy (I had her when I was younger with an ex-bf) she was 11.5 years old when DS was born and almost 14 when this one is born.

DS (who will be 2 in a few weeks) was born at 33 weeks. I had unexplained premature placental abruption. I was in the hospital the day before I had him, had 4 u/s that day (2 internal 2 external) and they said that I was dehydrated and that's why I was having minor contractions and was dialated 1cm. About 24 hours after being discharged I was readmitted because I was in labor. Up to that point I was having a great, uneventful, pregnancy.

I am now pg with #3 (due in Jan when DS will be 27 months) I am getting a shot of Makena (17p, a progesterone shot) every week in my hip area. I see my dr as normal (every 4 weeks for now, then 2, then 1 as the weeks will progress) Since I dialated quickly with my daughter (2-10 cm in only a few hours) and my son (2-10 cm in about 2.5 hours) we are keeping a close eye on my cervix, as well as the size, shape and location of my placenta. Since my level 2 ultrasound I have been and will be going every 3 weeks to have ultrasounds (at LIJ where the maternal fetal specialists are)

I can let you know in the next couple of months if the shots work and I get closer to full term!! There is a criteria for them, look on their website. Also, if you are a candidate to get them, print out the form that is on their website.and have your Dr fill that out and fax it to them. THEY contact your insurance company and figure out what is covered $$wise. If your insurance doesn't cover it, or only partially covers it the company has a sliding scale financial assistance program so you will not have to pay more then $20 per shot (shots are given from 16-36 weeks) $400 for the term is a lot better then the $6-7K at least that it would cost if you had to pay completely out of pocket.

Any other questions, feel free to FM!!
