Birth Story, FINALLY, with pic
Had my DS on 9/7/12 after 24 hours of labor.
Went in for my 39 week appt. and I was still only fingertip - 1 cm dilated and only about 50% effaced at that point my doc started talking about induction since I was only measuring 38 weeks and baby was obviously done growing.
Went in on 9/6 at 11am for my induction at 40 weeks 2 days. After getting into my room and getting settled they inserted the cervidil at 1:50pm and said OK we'll check you in 12 hours. DH and I looked at each other and were in shock. We really weren't prepared for how long of a process it was going to be.
Contractions started pretty much right away after they inserted the cervidil and when they came back and checked me at hour 10 I was 100% effaced and dilating I was at a 2-3 by that point so the doc thought I probably would have gone on my own probably that day or the next since the cervidil worked so quick.
They broke my water after that to try and get stuff moving and then I stalled at 4cm dilated for a few hours. The doc then came in and said if I didn't progress in an hour when they came back in to check me we would have to discuss a c-section. With each contraction after that I pushed a little each time hoping it would do something b/c I really didn't want a c-section. When they came back in and checked I was at 6cm dilated, they gave me a little pitocin to help it along and at that point I needed the epidural, BEST DRUG EVER.
Slept that night and the next day the contractions were really really strong and at around 11am I was 10cm and ready to push. 2 hours of pushing later Demetrios was born. 6 lbs 13 oz. 19 1/2 " long.
Recovery has been awesome and he is the best baby ever.
