Anyone been to the Westin in Aruba or St. Marteen?
We have an opportunity for either (work conference) & were trying to decide which would be better option?
I seem to find it's an ehh resort, figured I'd ask if anyone had first hand experience.
It's for the spring.

What was your pool issue? I read about lack of shade areas?

My mom stayed there the first two time she went to Aruba..she liked it.
She has since been staying at the Radisson and loves that so much better.
She said the Westin's pool area is just QUIET. Radisson and others had more going on, drink specials, etc. it's more fun.

When we stayed there we did a few nights at the Hyatt first and then switched mid trip because we used points and it was free.
The pool area is quiet and doesn't have much shade. It's also plain. Nothing to write home about, no hit tub... The Hyatt, Radisson and Marriott had swim up bars, more shade, and were set up nicer. the rest of the hotel is fine though. the casino is nice and the lobbies are too.
Eta I guess a good way to describe it is older than the others.

I've stayed at the Westin Aruba when I worked for Starwood. It's just average. I know old co-workers that have been to Westin St. Maarten and they said it was great.

I stayed at the Westin in Aruba using points last year. I thought the resort was very average. The rooms were comfortable and clean. I went on a girls getaway with my BFF without the kids so I had a great relaxing time despite the lackluster resort.
I did not get that wow factor like you are in tropical paradise. I would not stay there again. The Hyatt seemed really nice. They had great landscaping.
