BTDT - Fetal Echocardiograms?
I have gone for two Level II sonograms and both times they were unable to get good views of the babys heart.. so they are sending me for a fetal echocardiogram next week.
I am freaking out! What does this sono entail?

Re: BTDT - Fetal Echocardiograms?
i had one last week with baby girl i also had one with Jack.
It is just a very detailed sono of the baby's heart anatomy. It takes a good hour+. My MFM also does a complete anatomy scan as well
Enjoy it, you will get to see LO in detail for a WHILE!

Re: BTDT - Fetal Echocardiograms?
Dont worry! I get these evey week because my peri just does them and because I was on a med for my cervix (anti-inflamitory/NSAID) that can stress the babies so they need to monitor their hearts. It just looks for the shape of the heart, bloodflow, heartrate etc. Sometimes it's hard to get a good reading because the baby's position or angle or the sono tech is just not as experienced. They have to go back and get them at the end on me sometimes because my babies won't cooperate. Sometimes they have to tilt the table so my head is lower than my belly lol.
It's normal!!

Re: BTDT - Fetal Echocardiograms?
I went for one because the sono tech wasn't able to get a good view of the heart. It was a sono with the cardiologist and she just kept looking at different views of the heart. Felt pretty much like a regular sono but only looking at the heart.

Re: BTDT - Fetal Echocardiograms?
I had one today. Basically they just do an in depth sono of the baby's heart. They look at the chambers and listen to the heartbeat in each. They are looking for holes or problems that may have developed. Nothing to be worried about!!!!

Re: BTDT - Fetal Echocardiograms?
I had one after my level II bc they thought there was a hole in the baby's heart. Luckily it was a false alarm. It's very similar to a normal sonogram, just stronger and done by a pediatric cardiologist.
