Did you have to fast?
I called the lab and they told me they recommend fasting-but to check with my doctor since everyone says different things.
I just called my doctors office and they said I don’t have to fast. I'm assuming I just listen to my doctor and don't worry about fasting?

Re: GD screening
They said I could eat a normal breakfast. I wouldn't go eating something super sugary but a normal eggs and toast will be fine.

Thanks everyone! I'll do the same then since the dr. said I could eat. I'm going Saturday morning; so I'll just eat some toast before I leave so I'm not starving!

Believe it or not....toast will translate over into sugar (I have GD). Carbs in the morning might not be the best idea.
I would just eat protein. Scrambled eggs and a cheese stick.
Good luck!

Yogurt is also very carb heavy. Unless you do greek yogurt which has a ton of protein to balance out the carbs!

I agree with others -- if you're going in the morning, just don't eat after dinner the night before. You'll get a much more accurate reading that way. If you really want to eat, stick to protein only -- either eggs or sausage or something. NO CARBS, NO FRUIT/SUGAR of you're going to skew the results (and not in your favor).

I would fast, just to make sure.
Def don't have any carbs or sugar. If you are going to eat, stick to protein.

Re: GD screening
Yes, with every GD screen I have had it was required I fast. Speaking as a former GD patient, if you want the most accurate results you should fast. Eating prior to your blood draw is absolutely going to elevate you sugars and alter the result.
ETA - If you do insist on eating stick to NOTHING other than eggs and a cheese stick. Your morning numbers are the most sensitive to carbs and sugars so you're going to REALLY want to stay away from milk, yogurt, cheese, fruit, and ANY type of bread. All of those have a lot of carbs and you're going to end up spiking your sugars.

Re: GD screening
I had mine yesterday and I didn't even know I was going to have it...so I ate a normal breakfast beforehand. The nurse didn't say anything about that being a problem. Just no food or water once you have the drink for an hour, until they draw your blood.
