Re: Hospital stay and lovenox?
I'll be bringing my iron, prenatal and vit d but will they give me lovenox in the hospital? I know they usually give heparin via IV, but will I be in IV the whole 4 days or so?

they give it to you. when i had jack, it was administered 12 hours after birth so they would wake me up EVERY SINGLE night at 2 am they come in and inject in your abdomen
ETA - they take out the IV on day 2 after your catheter is out and you have urinated on your own.

Re: Hospital stay and lovenox?
Ugh I'd rather just do it myself. And I never take it on time now so I I'd rather change it to a normal time. I hate hospitals with their waking people up all night.

Hospital stay and lovenox?
I went back on it after the birth but I'm not sure the exact time.....I only had to take it once a day and it was def during reg hrs. Also they gave me vits and anything else I was to take. The hospitals do not want you taking anything of your own...its a liability for the hospital

they might switch you to heparin shots if you are close to delivery. thats what they did with me and i was hoping to make it at least 4 more weeks but they still switched to heparin. i delivered 5 days later. they did all the heparin shots and they left horrible bruises. they wouldnt let me do them myself and every nurse thought i was weird to want them to do them in my stomach so i told them to do it in my thigh instead and it bruised really bad. but that was def the least of my concerns.

Re: Hospital stay and lovenox?
I heard of switching to heparin at the end too. They haven't mentioned it yet and I'm surprised since my cervix it really short now (19) and Ill only be 33 weeks on tues. I'll ask my ob on Monday but it's the peri who prescribes the lovenox.
That sucks because I never bruise from the lovenox and it's the brand name too. I don't mind bruises since they go away but I really don't feel like being in more pain than I will already be in.

the bruises weren't painful at all - just ugly. i was 32w4d when they made the switch but it was because they put me on hospital bedrest so that's when the switch happened.
honestly if that ever happened again i would probably push to stay on lovenox because i had pre-e and from some research i have done it seems heparin might be worse for pre-e progressing into HELLP which is what ended up causing me to have to deliver at 33w1d.
if you are still home they'll prob just keep you on lovenox as long as they can until 36w.
