Old Navy needs to learn the art of vanity sizing with these things.
As irrational as it is, women do NOT like to see a larger size than they are used to on that tag. It's silly as heck, but it's the truth.
That would bother me.
They should just size them properly
I wouldn't have bought the 8 even if they looked good
just couldn't do it
I am wearing a size 0 Banana republic dress today- it's probably really a 4- but I am very happy
so they don't need to go too far to learn how to do this
See now the vanity sizing annoys the crap out of me. I KNOW I'm not a size 2 but that's the size of Gap jeans that fit me. I think the ON rock star skinnies are more true to size! I wear a 6 in those. I'd rather be told the truth and stay healthy then obsess over a number. I mean come on - the Gap Long and Lean jeans I have are a 0. The size 2's were HUGE. That's not even amusing. I'm 5'4" and 124 and not at all in shape No WAY am I a 0!! The vanity sizing has gotten way out of hand.
Absolutely agree. I am 5'2" and 115 and in ON, Gap and BR I am a size 0 or 2.
In HS I was custom measured for a jumpsuit (hey, it was the 80's) for my brother's barmitzvah and I was only a few pounds heavier than I am now, and I was a size SEVEN. A perfect 7 she told me. Vanity sizing has gotten ridiculous!!

I am a 6 in the Long and Lean...I weigh 150 lbs and am 5'10"....I am a size 10 and I don't care. I am someone who should be a size 10. Its crazy! I have size 8 shorts from Gap that are giant. I have no shame in being a size 10, and I wonder to myself how actually tiny people by jeans there. I guess they don't? Their length is also nuts. I am tall and the longs are WAY too long. The regular length still drags on the ground, like who gets the long there if they are long on a 5'10" person?
I like the quality, so I still buy their jeans, but the vanity sizing is pretty silly. We all know what size we are, so lets not pretend we are smaller than we are!

agreed. Honestly it dosent bother me what I fit in as long as it fits and looks good.
I will go into juniors and take the 9 if needed. whatever. I got hips. I know the deal. Plus if it helps being comfy and not offer a muffin top...even better!
to answer OP- Gap skinnies are a better fit and are nice and snug in the areas you want snug. I feel those run a tad big and I wear a 4 in those.
Some people feel better saying they are wearing a specific size but in reality they are NOT that size........CLEARLY!

Not really. I will admit my size openly- and I CLEARLY am that size. I just dont' see why I should have to wear a size that is CLEARLY 4 sizes bigger than what I wear in everything else to fit in ON rockstar jeans. Why don't they size them properly? Doesn't make sense.

Unlike Kim K I am not trying to stuff myself into a size 2 that does not fit!

OR fitting into a size 2 (brand obviously runs big) and telling others that is your size, when clearly it's not.
Not meaning "you"..just saying.

Exactly why I think vanity sizing is out of control. If I went into a normal store - not Gap or ON or NY & Co - there is no way in HELL I'd fit into a size 2. It fools women into thinking they are smaller than they are and bragging about that size (yes you know who you are) and, IMO, this ends up making other women feel bad about themselves because they are looking at this person and thinking, WTFfff? How are they a 2 and I am not?
