It's Christmas
... in Bloomingdales at Roosevelt Field... (not sure if they decorated all their locations yet.. ) .. I was STUNNED. I went there today and the store was decked out for the holiday season, complete with Christmas music.
It's not even October!!

that is SOOOOO STUPID. at least wait until halloween is over.
eta: i feel bad for those employees, by the time xmas comes they are probably SO over it.

It was seriously crazy! I love shopping during the holidays... but today I was still in flip flops! At this rate, by the time Thanksgiving comes I'll be ready for the holiday stuff to be over!

2 weeks ago I was in kolhs and they had all their Xmas stuff put!!! There was really nothing Halloween or fall out!!!

I work at Kohl's. We did our big "Christmas set" the first week of September!! It sounds crazy but you would be amazed at the amount of people already buying Christmas stuff. We actually had an extra truck added this week because our stock was getting so low already! I could do without hearing the Christmas music already from a display! The entire store gets decorated at the end of October, and the official Christmas music starts playing on November 1st!

I'm not surprised. I worked in retail and we used to get Christmas stuff around the first week of September. Usually, by the end of October everything Christmas is done. You have to remember that part of the reason why you see it early is that people DO shop early and that retailers NEED to be ahead of the holiday schedule in order to accomodate. By the time December actually does come, most of the Christmas stock will be low and they are already trying to cycle through a lot of their shipments.

I can understand why the stuff would be out for purchase - but I hate when the decorate and start the music SO early ......it's not even really FALL yet !!!

I personally love Christmas time so I'm fine with it.
When I was an apparel buyer we'd start to ship holiday collections in September. From a retailer's point of view, they are trying to make the most profit that they can by extending the lifespan of the holiday season. So the earlier they put the goods out, the earlier people will shop for them, giving retailers more sales at full price. Waiting until Halloween is over to put Holiday goods out is just not going to happen for many retailers. It's 2 months of full price sales vs 4 months.

I think this s part of why people get so "done" with the holiday season by the time it actually comes. I love caroling in my car as much as the next person during that time of year  ... but it's hard to look forward to that when you've been exposed to it since September!

It's not even FALL yet!
I used to say -watch, soon they will be starting Xmas stuff in Sept.
People laughed at me.
Guess I was right
So now watch- give it a few more years, and they will be starting right after 4th of July!
Just a matter of time..

They had signs up in Bloomies last weekend letting people know that the Roosevelt Field store was one of the ones selected to be decorated early in order to test out their holiday decor, or something along those lines. I still think it's ridiculous, but the signs kind of acknowledged that it was too early for it.

I am glad that I decided to shlep to Walt Whitman, despite the fact that I work across from the Roosevelt Field Bloomingdales! I hate Christmas in the summer!

They had the same signs up last year.. So I guess they're testing it early two years in a row  I love the holidays, but I'm first counting down to my birthday in the middle of October! I never saw holiday stuff out before then!
