What do you think of this name?
Brennan John W.
Many of you know my last name and know it's not the prettiest of names but I think this kind of all goes nicely!!
The middle name was always going to be John after my grandfather who passed away right before my wedding. I miss him so much and I wanted to get his name in there somehow.
Brennan is actually kind of a weird story... and will borderline make me sound like a terrible person but I'll tell it anyway... I actually have 3 grandfathers. My dad's dad who I was named after Giacinto (Gino -> Gina) so he's covered already and then my mom's father and her step father. Her step father is John and we were really close growing up, he was an awesome man. Her actual father was a very sad man, always kind of depressed and just generally down. We started referring to him as "sad grandpa" when we were younger (never to his face) and this morning I got a call that he passed away last night. He had been very sick the last few years and in and out of hospitals so it is truly one of those instances where we can say he is really in a better place. But here is the part that might make me seem terrible... a while ago we were looking up names and disagreeing on everything as usual and then came across Brennan. We both like it but on Nameberry Brennan means "descendent of the sad one." At first we thought that was such an odd meaning for a name... but now, after the call this morning I've been starting to think that in our own way this would be a way to give a little nod to "sad grandpa" in the naming department. His actual name is Antonio which I'm not a fan of and there are already so many Anthony's in my family that DH and I had already ruled it out a long time ago. So that's where is comes from... which is probably completely bizarre but also kind of meaningful... Feel free to tell me you think it's insane.

I like it! Brennan is cool and unique but still nice and boyish. John is such a nice memory for your Grandpa.

I like the name! I think its very interesting that Nameberry would list Brennan like that but if it gives you some peace then it works for you. Either way I think Brennan John is a strong name and I'm a fan!

Agree Love that name and the story. What a unique way to honor your grandfather without it being typical.
I'm very sorry he passed away. No matter what the circumstances were it's still sad.

I love the name Brennan! I briefly considered for if we have a boy, but it's my DH's good friend's last name (and he's not someone I'd name my kid after!).
