a second round of antibiotics
I have a resurgence of bronchitis (twice in 1 month) and the coughing is so bad i wake the babies up at night.
I went to a new pulmonologist after the first one said he didnt want to give me a second round of antibiotics. I didnt want to take another round but I'm coughing so bad, sometimes I vomit and Im giving myself horrible horrible cramps.
This new doc gave me zithromax, 2 different asthma pumps and a nasal spray. All class b meds. I'm so upset that I have to take so many medications. This whole pregnancy has been a practice of risk benefit analysis, and this new doctor mentioned that if I'm miserable, the babies are miserable too.
Not sure if I did the right thing agreeing to take this second round of antibiotics. My obyn was ok with it. Anyone experience this?

No advice in meds but wanted to say I hope you feel better soon. I know I hate when I sneeze and wake them.

Re: a second round of antibiotics
I've been on a couple of antibiotics this pregnancy for an infection in my back. Like you said, you have to measure the risk/benefit of the whole thing. Having you continue to be so sick and potentially get worse is way worse for you or your babies. Better to try and get rid of it ifyou can. Hope you feel better really soon!!!!!!

Re: a second round of antibiotics
I had then same experience. the wheezing got better but the coughing was really bad. I saw 4 different dr's who all told me that they could not give me anything else since I was pregnant. I was on 2 different antibiotics and steroids for 4 weeks. I then ran into a dr at work in the ER and he told me that he has seen this in pt's and its the acid that is causing the coughing. Even though I never felt it other then the coughing. I delivered the baby 1 week later and coughed right up to the baby delivered and then once he was out it stopped. He was right it was the acid being pushed up by the baby.

Funny, he mentioned that too and I definitely cough more when I'm having acid reflux. He gave me nexium and it made a world of a difference last night.
