Nothing to wear to work

Ladies- I am 16 weeks & my belly is quickly growing. I am petite and still not ready to share my news with everyone at work. I have managed so far to wear my belly band with my regular pants but I feel like I wear the same thing everyday to work.

I need to start buying maternity wear but dont want to spend a lot of $.

Wear do I shop? I would rather go to the store for now considering I dont know my size yet.

What are the essentials I need to buy?
I wear business casual to work.

Re: Nothing to wear to work

Early on I wore maternity pants (starting at 14w - just sooo much more comfortable) with my regular or more flowy shirts. A cami & cardigan was my go-to for a while for work.

I had 2 pairs of different black maternity pants (Old Navy, Motherhood Maternity) and 1 pair of dark denim jeans (H&M) I would wear to work.

Re: Nothing to wear to work

I just went yesterday to Destination Maternity and bought myself 1 pair of black working pants, black cardigan and 2 shirts. Since you're not ready to come out I would suggest buying some flowing shirts at H&M. Is what I did to cover my belly since I wasn't ready to come out. I just told my job yesterday at 21 weeks and they were shocked. So I guess the flowing shirts did work. As of yesterday I wasn't showing much but today I decided to wear my maternity clothes and belly is very noticeable. HTHChat Icon

Nothing to wear to work

if you want to go to the store and try stuff on, then go to destination maternity. the same size you wear now is the same size you will buy but it doesn't always work out like that and you may need to go up or down a size.
i bought 3 pairs of pants, black, gray and beige and rotate them. i can still wear my pre-maternity shirts, like a cami & sweater

i am a big fan of destination maternity - their clothing is sold in certain macys but if you go to the store on old country road there is a pretty decent size sale section

Re: Nothing to wear to work

I've tried work pants on from every store. My favorite by far are the modern boot cut with full panel from Destination Maternity. I own 2 black and 1 gray pairs for work. They come in xs, s, m and l. Other pants I feel like are either too long or too flared to both. My goal is not to tailor maternity pants.

I also have 1 pair of demi band jeans from Gap that I outgrew quickly. The demi panel began hurting my belly around 17w, and I was NOT big at all. I love the full panel jeans. I have a pair of skinny jeans from Gap and a pair of boot cut from JCPenney. In jeans, sometimes they come in s-m-l and other times you just buy your pre-pregnancy size.

Re: Nothing to wear to work

i feel your pain. i almost had a breakdown one day shopping for maternity clothes because stores are very bad at carrying stuff unless you go to a specific maternity store and they can be pricey and also not too many around. i also didnt want to get stuff online since i didnt know how they would fit.

anywayyyy....i just happen to go to kohls last night and there section is super tiny but they did have sales on pants and i got a nice pair of work pants for $30- not cheap cheap but better than $50 or more.

and ps- i wore 2 pair of pants all summer and kept washing them lol

Nothing to wear to work

if you catch them on a good day, they do have great sales sometimes. check them out online to see what sales they are currently having. I was so excited because i was able to buy the petite pants and didn't have to have them tailored!!!!!!
Also, i know like old navy sells maternity clothing but not in store so you wouldn't be able to try it on. i just recently ordered a shirt i thought was cute from them, hopefully it fits because if not, I will have to return it by mail since they won't take it back in the store.
