area rugs in the bedroom

What am I doing with this? Do I get a rug big enough for the whole room so it goes under the bed too? Or do I get something just for where the floor is exposed around the furniture?
I was thinking a big one to go under the bed for extra soundproofing since the twins will be sleeping in our room for a few months after they're born but it seems wasteful.

Not sure of the size of the area rug in my master but it is large enough so that there is only about 1-2' of bare floor around perimeter of room. The idea of an area rug is to add warmth, softness and added color to a room so yes, I would make sure it is large enough to at least fit under the bed.

I did the same thing, leaving about 4 inches of hardwood exposed around each edge. The area rug is an off-white berber with a nice padding underneath.
In between the foot of my bed and my dresser, I have a red persian area rug on top of the berber, for an extra splash of color and just because I love that rug.

As much as I miss seeing the hardwood, it is nice to not to have ones toes touch a cold floor in the morning.
