Car Seat in Truck?
Hi Ladies, I tried to do a quick google search, but does anyone know the law/safety of putting a carseat into the FRONT seat of a truck (that has no backseat). My DH will be driving his work truck around when our little one gets here, but there is no back seat in the truck. 9 out of 10 times the baby will be in my car, but can he put a car seat into the front seat of his truck if he needs to get the baby from daycare or something? He DOES have the option of turning off the passenger airbag, which we would obviously do... TIA!

Re: Car Seat in Truck?
I would say no.... there are laws that state that babies and even kids (certain height and weight) can not be put in the front seat of a car.
I wouldn't risk my child's safety

Re: Car Seat in Truck?
My neighbor has 3 kids and they put the infant sear in front middle of their pick up. Knowing them, I highly doubt they would do it if it wasnt safe. Maybe they turned off the airbag. The car seat inspection places can tell you.

Car Seat in Truck?
I believe if the truck has NO back seat it IS legal to put the car seat there IF the airbag CAN be turned off. I would double check with a car stay safety inspector though

Re: Car Seat in Truck?
From carseat.org
Can I put my child in the front seat of a pickup truck?
If you must install a safety seat in the front seat of a pickup truck, make sure the air bag is turned off, either with an on/off switch or with an automatic sensor (check indicator light). Some passenger air bags will expand to cover the center seating position, so installing a safety seat in that location may be dangerous to your child. Check the vehicle owner’s manual to find out where child safety seats may be installed. Installing a safety seat in the front seat of any vehicle increases the risk of death to your child by more than 30%, so a pickup truck without a back seat is not the safest choice for transporting a child.
