spinoff to rock and play

If you are registering for a swing do you also need a rock and play? We are in a small apartment and do not have a ton of space so which is more useful?

We are not sure what we are using for a bassinet yet, but just trying to figure out the main differences between the two and if both are needed.

**Updated question**
Ok so one last question for those that use the RnP for sleep....do they sit low? So are they really low next to you on the side of the bed? We have limited space in our bedroom so still trying to weight our bassinet options. So essentially was this used as a bassinet for you?

I registered for both-the RNP; and a swing. I figured it would be nice to have the swing as well.

Re: spinoff to rock and play

I registered for both because the RnP is not going to swing on it's own and the swing isn't portable.

we used both often.
RNP for nighttime sleep and then living room after she went into her crib.
swing for naps and "play time"

The swing and the RnP are totally different things IMO. Up until she was about 4 months, DD's swing would pretty much make her stop crying instantly. While she liked the RnP and slept really well in there, it didn't instantly lull her.

I registered for this too. at first I assume LO can just hang out while awake in it , then I will eventually bring it to the babysitter when I return to work .

its just one of those things that I saw when registering and liked so I added it.

we just got the rock and play for sleep time....

we already had the papasan swing - ds loved that durring the day and sometimes napped.

We also just got the bouncer seat for awake time, with ds we had the newborn to toddler rocker instead. but ds used the bouncer at daycare.

DD hated the swing. It just upset her a lot and she was never comfortable in it.

She slept in the RNP as her "bed" until over 9 months old.

The bouncy seat, I used as a place to put her down when she was awake but I couldn't hold her or stand over her. So if I was showering, doing dishes, cooking, etc, she could hang out in the bouncy seat and play with the toys on the toy bar above her in it. She loved how when she kicked, it would bounce. I had a pretty inexpensive FP one but absolutely loved it!

We did all 3. Rnp to sleep and nap and it's portable. Swings for whenever. Bouncy seat to keep them contained and feeding.

I have the rnp and a swing my dd loves the swing however she hates the rnp since she likes to sleep on her stomach. It all depends on the baby.

It's very very low. When I slept on the couch in the living room, it was at that level. I had to step out of bed to pick dd up in the bedroom. But yes it was her bed the first 9 m until we were ready to move her upstairs out of our room to hers. We didn't have a bassinet.

Def used the Rnp as a bed next to mine, it's in place of a bassinet you won't need both and if you are limited it on space then this is the best because it folds and fits right under your bed.

Thanks ladies! It has been added. We will use it in lieu of a bassinet instead of stressing over finding a small one to fit. And worse comes to worse she will sleep in her crib and I will have to get up for feedings. We have a small apartment and she will be right next door to us anyway.
